If the dvd drive is powered up and the disk goes in , and it should show some laser activity. meaning it should light up either when you boot the PS3 or when you engage the disk .. if thats doesnt work then I would say either you dont have the bga fully in tacted on the board or last resort you need to change the other chip .


I see 1TONpete hasn't replied yet with dates on which has single or dual lasers . he told me the other day I forgot what it was..

ok swapped BOTH chips now and i have no laser. it now takes and ejects but doesnt spin up and no sign of any laser what so ever..looks like its the BGA chip. just going to have to try again lol! ill keep you posted pal.
