You need to run a 64 bit OS to take advantage of the 64 bit processor.
AMD chips are labeled as semi-real speed.

64 3800 is going to give you about 3.6GHz realtime speed - but, if you're running a 32 bit OS, you're looking at 2/3rds of what your realtime speed is, so you're basically running a 2.4GHz AMD chip.
As well, your RAM could use another 512 MB - Doom 3 is pretty intensive.
Anyways, get OpenGL from opengl.org .

What are you talking about? I've always hated AMD, but can you provide some sort of proof to this?

OP: When you install your video card drivers, the opengl drivers should install as well.

Just my own experience in working on literally hundreds of client computers.
Personally, I'm an AMD fan, but only because of their open source support.

The speed they're rated at is the speed they're running at. Performance wise, they're not the best. That doesn't mean they're running slower or that you're running a lower "real speed" of sorts.
I'm a computer tech as well, so I fully understand what you're getting at, though. lol

On the spec sheet a 64 bit 3800+ has a real speed of 2400mhz with a rated speed of 3800mhz. Without the 64 bit OS, you're only going to run at the real speed. Despite the rated speed, it never actually performs at that level.

Oh, forgot to mention this earlier - but it's not just about how much RAM you have, but how fast your RAM is - on DDR, you could be running 2100, could be running 3200. That's going to make a huge performance increase as well.

I have a life. I don't sit around on the forum every day. It also wasn't uncalled for, because I, in fact, have no reason to argue with brick placed in the form of a wall.
