olimex pic-mcp-usb help
« on: April 12, 2011, 11:54:58 AM »
So I bought this programmer a few years ago for class and was planning on using it to program my chips with Top's rapidfire code.  It is supposed to be a stand in replacement for the Picstart+ programmer however when I try and select it in MPLab the option for Picstart+ is grayed out.

As far as I know I have the latest firmware for the board.   I am also running MPLab v8.61.

EDIT: here is a link to the programmer I have http://www.olimex.com/dev/index.html

if the device you have selected in MPLAB isnt supported by that programmer it is greyed out.

what device do you have selected? (Configure>Select Device)

Currently nothing is selected, I know I have programmed with this programmer before but it has been 3 years or so so MPLab has gone through a few updates.  The option is in the list though I just cant select it.

Got it, thanks haha, I was still lookin for programmers for my 18f45k20 instead of the 12f683 thanks

Ok so I put in one of my 12f's and programmed it with tops code and checked it and got this result when I verified the programming:

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Programming/Verification completed successfully

PICSTART Program\Verify Report
12-Apr-2011, 12:21:32

Device Type: PIC12F683
Address Range 0-782

Data Memory Errors

Address  Good  Bad

0000     007F  0001
0002     007F  00FF
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Im not really sure what this means, does this mean it did not program correctly?
