controller leds not workin
« on: May 01, 2011, 12:04:08 PM »
I ordered some pink leds last week and i couldnt get them to work. So then i bought some blue leds from the same seller and i couldnt get them to work. I tried them on a controller with rapidfire so i took off the power points and that didnt do anything. Ive tried 2 out of the 8 leds i have and they didnt work. anybody want to help me out?

if you bought a different batch and they dont work, sounds like you're doing something wrong... you need to know the voltage that the leds require. grab a cell battery (3v) and test your led on it. if it doesn't light up, you probably aren't soldering to the leds correctly.

It happened something similar to me. I bought some red leds to change them in my controller but when i did it didnt work. The problem was that + and - in the led were backwards. Try to do contact (without solder the leds) to check the polarity

im kinda pissed... i just gave it another go, but before i did, i changed the batteries and it worked. that means the pink leds were fine. so pretty much, i wasted the npink leds. atleast i still have plenty of blue left.

their foward voltage is around 3.1 volts i believe. They should light up a little when using normal double A batteries but if you use rechargable ones they wont light up at all

Seriously? I wouldn't think it mattered if they were rechargeable or not... but that would explain why SOME of my rechargeable battery don't light up L.E.D.'s

ummmm using a rechargeable battery or not is not gonna make a difference if they light up or not as long as its charged...If its at its max charge then its gonna put out about 1.5 volts per AA battery. I use rechargeable AA batteries in my controllers daily and never had a problem.

I always have a problem. Rechargable batteries are usually around 2.4~2.6 volts when combined. Your not getting the full 3 volts

It depends on the battery. I've seen high and low voltages on rechargeables. I have one set thats 1.6+ v each. but they dont last as long as some other ones I have.
