A Very Happy TwisT
« on: May 10, 2011, 10:31:06 PM »
So today makes TwisT a very happy boy.

The theater department has a lot of props, obviously. Well one in particular was made a big deal over. . . It was a very realistic snub nose revolver.

Security made a big deal over the gun's realism even though it had a flared orange plug. So the theater department agreed to get rid of it. Well, a dear friend of mine was the theaters tech director. So she disposed of the gun. Understand that she is graduating this Saturday, so throwing the gun away in front of me, isn't a very large concern to her.

So I grabbed the prop and dropped it into my pocket and skipped off into the sunset and hid it in my car.

Once I got home, I looked it over in detail. . . To my surprise it is a real 22 revolver. It had a orange plug shoved in it, but other than that the barrel is free. Grabbed some shells and fired it this evening. (Safely)

Works great! . . Oh it has no serial numbers. XD

It had a plug in it, an orange one. So they thought it was a prop gun. XD It was literally a rubber stopper. It came right out. It had been there for a few years from what I heard of the techies arguments with security. But oh well. XD My gain. >.>

Since there is no serial numbers on it though, I can't exactly get it registered. But it's a little better than a BB gun. XD Come on. So what if it's the chossen weapon of most hitmen. I prefer credit cards with a sharpened edge, like disposable straight razors.

State laws regulate gun registration, look up the laws in your state, in TX it is not required to register a gun...

yes, but I don't believe it's mandatory for owners... idk, you'd have to look it up...

As far as I know here in Idaho at least :

You don't have to register your firearm if it's an antique firearm. Antique is classified before 1892 or something like that - which I don't get. A Colt Peacemaker will do a lot more damage than a dinky modern .22, but you have to register a .22?

Regardless - grats on the score Twist!

I'm curious about it though - S/N scratched off, or just never there? Any model number?

There is not a serial number anywhere on the gun, however the stamps where the serial numbers would be are there.

-TwisT

Added : On a side note - I am actually fairly sure that I could not get it registered right now, due to circumstances that are not in my control. >.>;' Bwahahahaahaha. Well.. Specifically I know I can't get the permit to carry a concealed firearm. XD

most states wouldn't let you carry a .22 as a concealed weapon anyway. usually you have to test for your concealed license with the gun you intend to carry, and usually it has to be a .32 or higher...

hey twist! what state do you live in? here in cali i believe that you have to register your gun. although... you situation sounds familiar. your gun might of bin a prop. (duhh i know!) lol but hear me out...

in many movies they were they use guns(props specially with revolvers) they are mostly real guns who are modified in some way to shoot blanks. Prehaps some guy just though that if he puts a orange plug and call it a 22 blank shooter it might pass though. its most likely.

good score man! just make sure you follow your state laws :)

BTW! 22 are so fun to shoot! go to walmart and buy a pack of 500 federal ammo and have fun man! xD
