headphone port on my 360

last year the HDMI port on my TV died so I was using my PC monitor and the built in speakers suck so I wanted to use my PC speakers.  I bought a headphone extension cable from newegg and soldered it to the xbox motherboard.

cool, but wouldn't it have been easier/more convenient to replace the hdmi port on your tv?

I don't own a rework station and I don't know if it was just the port or the actual IC that works the HDMI port that stopped working, I have since bought a new TV and don't use it anymore but I like to show it off to my friends.
