@nEoVaLoR yea that actually works too! i forgot bout that... :dntknw: @sammy yea i agree you are looking for an injury even if it works for you. wat nEoVaLoR said is true you can do that with a soldering iron cuz it melts right through the plastic. BUT do not do this to smoothen the edges. if you dont have a rotary tool well... i guess you could use first a rough sand paper then a smooth to even everything out a bit. wont be perfect though but idk. oh and actually doing this gave me a design idea. if you wanna do like a crecent moon glue the middle circle to the side :winker:

That is retarded, you're asking for injury.

If you have a soldering iron, stick a flathead screwdriver into it. Bam, high precision melting thingy.
i wear thick gloves, im not that stupid. but thanks for the idea.

i think he's trying to say that he burnt the nerves off his hand by touching the soldering iorn while it was on, the first time he used it.

At least tha,s what i got from it... Lol

lol. @nEoVaLoR actually not really. i mean mines doesnt atleast...idk i havent shot myself only my bro xD. one thing tho is that instead of the plunger smoothly going in after a shot it just shoots back in so its loud. plus it shoots further and a lil faster. and @Blazinkaos ouch if you did burn those nerves off well idk. but i hope you know now you dont hold soldering irons from the metal. (unless they sell gloves for that  :dntknw:

just made a lil discovery that most ppl probably already know...i was playing around with the silver circle on the umd door and snapped it in half.ok heres what i found out...not only is there a plastic sticker thats also used as the adhesive.but if you take that sticker off you will be left with a shiny part of the ring (sorta reflective).so there ya go if you want a shiny umd ring take it out peel off the sticker and wala. l8r

i mean as in chrome shiny not brushed metal shiny. when that sticker is removed it has a reflective surface. the only way i found to remove the sticker was to snap the ring in half as shown below.

yea theyre both from oem silvers and blacks. the picture was of the same ring. and to snap the ring BEND it in half and do the same this the other way [just so it weakens] then it shud snap. idk if its same for 3rd party rings.

Use alcohol or some goof off/goo gone to remove tsticker from the ring.

the think that sucks about the CE rotary tool is that it only has 4 speeds. All of my Dremels are variable speed, which helps a ton when dealing with different plastics.

I found that using the dremel sanding wheel with a heavy grit works very fast for UMD door smoothing.'

If you want to do it the ghetto way, get a 200watt soldering gun (tips are cheap, or use copper like F00Kz did in a post somewhere around here) melt the bo-jesus out of the circle, sand the rest when done.

if you want to go cheap:
work from the back of the UMD door, draw a circle about 5mm away from the outer side of the UMD ring. Use a magnifying glass on a full sun day and melt the plastic (will only work with dark PSP's (unless you use permanent marker to make it dark)

to sand it cheaply, use a fine thread long bolt/screw and file away the plastic.

This will be basically a free way of getting it done as I have never been to a home that didn't have a magnifying glass and a fine thread screw/bolt of some type. (screws that join door knobs work well)

not sure, ive never used alcohol on the ring, however i have used 99% isopropyl on other similar style tacky things and it worked ok.. you can try other types (its usually in your medicine cabinet)

goo gone is what i generally use though, or my heat gun and some patience.

it won't just vanish! you have to scrub/scrape it away still, the alcohol just makes it a bit easier :P
