According to studies, from the year 2008 to 2010 the amount of people who shop online has an annual increase of 20% to 35%.
According to the studies preformed, Canada alone spends an equivalent of
$15 Billion dollars online each year and that number is still expected to rise. In the United States the numbers are expected to rise even more-so.
Other country's such as but not limited to India and Finland are also reporting an increase in online shopping.
Members of this study say that this increase in online shopping is mostly due to the rapid increase in fuel prices, and retail costs. As most items found online can be bought at a much cheaper price then what would be found in store.
It is much easier to shop online and have what you want shipped directly to your door then it is to have to drive or walk all over the place to find the right product you are looking for.
So for small business's it would seem that going for an online store as well as a local one may be the best way to get noticed. As well as most larger companies such as Wal-Mart are aiming for a more cyber-optic approach to shopping.
So could it be that one day that retail stores will be a thing of the past? Or is this just a trend that will eventually burn off?
