Nice find on the track ball.
Update:

So here is the RF wired up with analog and button trigger outs. The analog is on the svideo and the rca's on each side are for trigger tacts out. The Svideo on the far right side is for the RF control and rf led . The svideo on the left is for the ABXY.

Here is the battery internalized and analogs removed. I used 2 of the analog mounting spots to screw the battery cover to the board.

ABXY tacts and 3 5ways, 1 5way for dpad+button and 1 for abxy + button and 1 for sel start and home and 2 buttons

Toe triggers still in progress.

latest revision of the layout. I have thought about moving sel start home and sync to yellow rca's and moving LB/RB and full triggers up to where the sel start home sync buttons connect.

I like this layout, and I like having 2 diff options for analogs, d-pad, abxy and triggers. So for the 2 svid's that need grounds, we'll just have an extra wire? Sounds cool to me.

Just so there is not any confusion... A1 is the left stick and A2 is the right stick.

I just tried positioning my trackball mouse to see if i can operate it on my table, it felt pretty good so I took the ball socket/sensor out. I positioned it and my right hand buttons next to it to simulate me using in place of analog.
the set-up seemed to work perfect, so what I'm gonna do is extend the ball socket outside of the mouse but to where the mouse is functional. Then I'm going to hook the mouse up to the xim3 I mentioned in my alternative joystick post.
The only concern I have is, will the xim3 allow you to use the controller along with the mouse. I wrote the company who sells it and waiting for an answer.
