need some dvd drive help

ok i had open try error called microsoft warranty's gone. so i took my xbox 360 apart. cleaned my laser by gentily touching it with a cotton swab it worked for 2 days. now i got open try again so i thought it got dirty again i did the same thing again but it didnt help it this time. so im thinking i might need a new laser or new drive all together it's a benq what will be easier to do if anyone can help me thanks in advanced

You can do either our.1st I would see what's cheaper way out. And that would be replace the laser. Being that's the cheaper way to go. There pretty simple to replace. Being that you cleaned it and worked 2 days. I would agree that's the proble. It's totally your choice if you want to change the whole drive. You will need the origanal mother board for the dvd drive now to put on the dvd drive. Other wise you will need to retrieve the key and flash the dvd drive with your key . In order for it to work.  I hope this helps you out.

i have not bought a dvd drive or laser i took the top off did a laser test. It did exactly like the video below this time it actually read the disk but when i put the top back on i will get open tray again would this be fixable by replacing the laser or replacing the drive belt on it. maybe both? The only thing i can possably think of is maybe a worn belt and the tray close's just a tad bit slow where the magnet might engage right after the laser starts to read the disk but it might just be a stupid guess idk lol.

edit: also to get the drive to open when the top cover is on i have to press it 3 times cause the 1st time it wont open the xbox light just keepe blinking over and over but if i press it another 2 times really fast it opens also btw the vid is not mine just found it cause im boared lol

another edit: i think i found my problem so "noob aleart" lol while shining a light to examine it more better to try and save some money i just notice somithing my black wire that's on the side looks to be almost chopped in half  it's probally touching metal and shorting out (should be a ground since it's black but heck if i know lol) im gonna run to a store and grab some electrical tape (ran out) to see if that solve's my problem guess i should be careful lol  so i will go ahead and award my self the #! stupid trophy lol 

last edit: i promise lol it's fixed electracal tape fixed it i need to be more careful lol i guess ill just replace it someday lol need to get a new solidering iron gave all my old stuff away to a friend cause i got boared

1st you can just take the rubber band off and wash it with some cold water rubbing it with your fingers. and  putting the belt back on.

2md try to check the top of the tray and see if its bent iin  any way.could be causing the magnet to  cause the drive not to spin up.

3rd after seeing the video. Its defentily needs a new laser. I just had the same issue with a lite-on drive. was jumping all over the place just like that . replaced the laser and it works smoothly. 

4th I would check the worm gear motor that drives the laser also make sure there isn't any hair tied up in it .

im gonna go ahead and replace the laser soon so i wont have open tray problem again cause it is 3 yr's old i dont play it everyday but when i play i do play for hr's so i agree it's time for it btw how would i remove the antistatic solder point without a soldering iron i don't feel up to buying another 1 just yet lol or should i just wait till i get another

yes just remove with  a soldering iron, should be pretty simple to do.

well i was lazy went to this local dude to install the laser and told him while he was at it to grab my drive key as i didn't have what i needed to get it so i can flash it on another 1 later well he was dumb and stupid bricked it and didn't get the key so i guess ill be getting another 1 later lol

Its a benq you should be able to fix it.

umm there's no key on the drive no more and i can't jtag it to get the key off the motherboard cause i have a 13xxx dash can't remeber the rest lol

what type of motherboard is it? the key has to be there ... unless you over wrote it,

If its a zephyr , falcon, or jasper you can get the key  will explain more after we find out what mobo it has.

well the manufacture date on the shell is 05-05-2008 came with a 175 w 14.2a power brick and the power connector looks to be 2nd gen so maybe it's opus but it does have hdmi port so falcan maybe the line above the 6 pins is straight it's not split in the middle funny microsoft said it was never returned (this is a used 360 lol) used 360's around here at pawn shops when i last looked are 99.99 + tax not sure what they come with atm but i'll be looking either today or tommorrow other people on craigslist are higher than that or break even lol a rrod for 20 right now there

Its a falcon board being its has 175 watt power supply and hdmi so there for there is a way to get the key from the motherboard for the dvd drive.

thanks im still gonna go out and get another atm and use this as a side project to try to fix it if i dont mess it up lol it would be really cool to do half green and black on it if it's fixed lol

lol my new used one has a xenon board the bad part is 12625 dash lol it was sent to microsoft lol anyways for 110 bucks (with tax! (tax really added 10 buucks) i got all cables 1 controller and 20 gb hdd lol 1 question if i go get the xecutor reset glitch mod could this be jtaged im guissing no lol but dont hurt to ask also it's diertier than the prositute down the street lol
