Questions about the Speaker mod
« on: November 23, 2011, 04:13:47 AM »
So today I found a slim speaker that was quite loud and wanted to put it in my psp

Questions

1. Will I have to remove the original speakers of the psp or can I have 3 speakers in all with the big one wired in parallel with one of the other speakers?

2.How much battery life will be shortened by the new speaker?

3.Anything else that may be of use to me/

P.S.- I plan on putting in a switch for the big speaker to conserve battery when I want to

-thanks

Answers:

1. No you do not, you can add the speaker as well as keep the original ones.

2. Honestly quite a bit, but its dependable on what the wattage of the speakers is and how loud you play it.

3. make sure to insulate the exposed wires properly otherwise you will blow out your psp's sound fuse.

And since my psp is the 1000 I wouldn't worry about the sound fuse if there is a short the speaker turns itself off

so today I connected the speaker to the internal speakers and it was quite loud but I still want it to be lounder.I also created a bridge between the psps internal speakers to make it louder.

So my question is
Is there a way to make it louder by using a sound amp or something?

a louder speaker will mean that your battery will die even quicker. Another possibility to get a really loud speaker set up is to get some smallish usb powered speakers (5v or less basically), take them apart, and wire the jack of the speakers to the jack of the psp. you will have to cut a trace that will mean if you try to put headphones in, no sound will come out of the headphones. You've also got to wire the 5V on the speakers usb or otherwise to the 5V on the psp. This is kind of what i mean and i know there aren't any pictures https://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,22350.msg169425.html#msg169425 this is pretty much the only image you need anywho

thanks man but I found that too complicated and did it the simple way.
The speaker sounds really nice and loud.
Will post a video/pics soon
