xbox 360 Issue
« on: January 23, 2013, 01:29:41 PM »
Well its been long time since i asked for help usually figure it out but not this time. My xbox still the same one I have had for like years now is having display issues. It works in beginning but then the screen freezes on me and i dont see what im doing after that. This all started when i moved and i had a roach problem. The roaches well make a mess in my xbox i had no choice but clean it out but i cleaned it with viniger something harmless to electronics. I let it dry for few days make sure nothing would go wrong it was fine first few turn on's but then it started freezing. So anyone know what could be the issue or you think i messed it up?

First thing i would try is to take the heat syncs off and clean them with some artic clean and put new thermal past on the cpu and gpu and bend the x-clamps...  to make sure there is enough pressure... on the heat syncs...  being you had a roach problem they are messy things, and stick like poop ... I doubt you will ever get the smell out of the xbox no matter what you use.   but i would try that ... hopefully it cures the issue and doesn't  need a reflow... or on its way to needing a reball....

that is what i would try 1st...

I dont do Roaches...  Yuk!!  hopefully you got rid of them and killed everything  good luck let us know what the results are.

Well the thing is i did the prod fix on it so it no longer has x-clamps. It dont stink anymore after i cleaned it with viniger. But maybe the bolts are loose on cpu and gpu idk.

Yea ill open it when i get the chance and see. Hope thats the issue.

ive had this problem a few times. actually my first 360 i even opened. remember playing with my friends on cod:waw. and it would keep freezing, but mine would throw a rrod.

i took a 80mm fan and wired it to usb and sit it on the extended gpu heatsink and it fixed it.

try tightening the blts first.

good luck
