Custom Disk Tray Cover

I am working on a small custom xbox build and need some help. I am trying to replace the SILVER piece that is on the DVD drive of the xbox 360 that says "Xbox 360" on it with a custom piece made from wood. What would be the best way to go about this being when you take that silver piece off it isn't flat. I was thinking of sanding it down to be flat and just gluing the wood to the drive but thought I would take suggestions first.
