Programming PIC12F683 I/SN

My friend had a bunch of these I/SN chips laying around so he gave me some. They are surface mounts instead of threw hole mount and they look like this:

You could use something like http://parts.digikey.com/1/parts/1683768-adapter-8-soic-8-dip-pa-sod3sm18-08.html, but if it were me I would just solder some paper clips (or better yet some leftover leads, like the extra end of a resistor you trim off after soldering) to the pins and insert them into the socket, or something like that.

this link shows what it actually looks like, it is a clip that grabs the pins and has pin headers you can connect your programmer to.  You may have to add pin headers to your programmer as well or hard wire your ISCP pins from the programmer to the clip

a cool thing about this clip is that it will program many pic 12F and 16F soic chips even if they have more then 8 pins, as the programming pins on "mid-range" pic parts are all in the same place whether the part has 8 or more pins.
