PS3 rapid fire question

Alright, I wasn't for sure where to post this so sorry in advance if it's the wrong place. I'm currently waiting for the rapid fire chip from intensafire and got a little impatient and made the 555 timer for the time being. I've got it installed, it's up and working great, but I'm running it off of a tac switch. So my question is this. Is there a way to hook this up on the R1 button  instead?
