What is the difference? ? ?
« on: June 11, 2012, 10:54:32 AM »
I posted this in the Electronics Projects first by mistake. Sorry, Anyway I'm new to programming pic chips and sofar have learned A LOT from this site, so real quick, Thanks for posting your projects and tuts. What I'm needing to know is, with a 12f683 chip, what is the difference in 12F683 E/MF, 12F683 E/P and 12F683 I/P? I'm getting ready to order some as soon as the programmer I built, (Thanks to this site) is complete.

I and E are the temperature ratings.  I stands for Industrial, which is the more common, and is -40ºC to 85ºC.  E stands for extended, which is -40ºC to 125ºC.  The I is what everyone uses for rapidfire projects, because temperatures are no where near the 85ºC range, so the higher range Extended version is not necessary.

Only if you have a work email/.edu email address, or an email from a domain.  They will not accept web email addresses (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc.).

...what is the difference in 12F683 E/MF, 12F683 E/P and 12F683 I/P?

It's also worth noting that markings after the "/" indicate the package.

P    -> PDIP
PA  -> PDIP
SN -> SOIC
OA -> SOIC
MD  -> DFN
MF  -> DFN-S

I'm willing to bet you probably don't want the 12f683 E/MF.

Thanks Matt for the info. I've an edu. email so I'll try that. If it don't work then I'll just order them from Mouser. They have it to where you can order 10 for like 11 bucks (shipping not included of course). Figured I'd get a few of em because I'm sure I'll screw one or two of em up. LOL Rightnow I'm building a JDM programmer but I've only been able to mess with it for a couple of minutes here and there due to work, kids and school.
