Help, PS3 laser issues

So I just replaced the laser in my PS3 because it could not read Blu-ray discs anymore.  It it the KEM-400AAA and an old PS3 fat.

Now the drive does not pull in discs anymore.  With the top open I can turn on the PS3 and the laser does not flash or try and focus and the laser moves all the way to the back of the rails.  If I turn the PS3 off and back on again the laser does not reset and tries to move backwards again making  grinding noise.

I was careful when I put it back together and have no idea what is going on.

Please help.  If needed I can put up a video of whats going on though I think I described it pretty good.  I do not want the have to go buy a new PS3 since I have other places I need to spend my money.

dude those br drives are a pain to work with if everything isnt lined up correct it wont pull in the games
disconnect the power form the back or flip the switch and put your finger on the eject button and while still holding the eject button flip the power swtich but dont let go of the eject button until u hear the br drive making activity  itll do the fan test but will force the br to eject also good also for ylod when u got a stuck game maybe itll work to realign it

I havent been able to fix it yet 

when you insert the disc the laser moves back. then I try to inert a disc and the loading motors do not start to pull the disc in. Also the side rails do not move to accept a disc. and none of the gears spin.  I am at such a loss and this is starting to get frustrating.

Its such an easy swap, undo a couple screws and ribbon cables, put in new mechanism, reverse cycle >.< but nope 

Hopefully I will have better luck after work tomorrow, but all tips/ideas are welcome. now its a matter of principle, this think will work again haha

You will get it to work again. like i said go to that guys you tube channel it has helped me many times since I only do PS3 like once in a while... but just make sure the alignment is correct when putting the top part together... also you the part that senses the disk to be sucked in has to be in its proper place or it wont do that at all.. I had this issues like this before take your time and look over everything.
