Replaced stock rumblers with micro rumblers. Works pretty well. I needed some extra space for the PIC's.

I installed Rapidfire (t0pfire). Still waiting for my smd leds that I ordered from Ebay, so for now I haven't connected the wire from the diodes to the ROL.

be careful that the ground wire and the diodes dont get pinched on the controller shell.

Will do. Just tested it with the shell and it seem like it doesn't, but thanks

just watch it around the circle for the right thumb stick.

I got mine like that too, and the thumb stick casing on the shell doesn't press against it. I think Gamerdude has his like that too, on his tutorial on how to install topfire.

lol you can do it how you like, but the parts I circled in red are going to pinch on the diodes and the ground wire. Trust me, lol I have been here a lot longer and done more controllers than most.... This can be resolved by filing it of cutting the thumbstick plastic out of the way. That ring will sit against the mobo when the controller is reassembled correctly.

Received my trims, buttons, thumb-sticks and triggers today :) Pretty happy about the look. I tested the UV leds I'll be using behind it, looks pretty good. Only bad thing is that it turns out blue on the photos.

I decided to rather go with white leds, as the UV ones isn't very bright. I glued the micro vibrators to the shell and added leds to the thumbticks. They are vibration activated. I replaced the stock rol smd's with white ones too.

I replaced the left micro rumbler with a stock one, saw there was some space left. I connected the 4 vibration activated leds from the thumbsticks to the left rumblers contacts. I added 5 white 5mm leds in the trim and 4 in the ABXY. I connected my custom led fader/runner setup and tested it. Had a lot of trouble with them. Glad it works now. I added a on/off switch for the led fader/runner.

I am basically finished. Just need to make the final mod-off video and add some final touches.

The custom led fader/runner is based on t0pbuzz's led fader code. I modified his code to work on a 20-pin PIC16F690, because I needed output on atleast 8 pins. (The original 12F683 code only outputs on 2 pins). With the modified code, it outputs on 15 of the 20 pins. This was probably the hardest part of the mod. Very glad that I could make it work. Credit still goes to t0pbuzz for his awesome code.

The PIC16F690 controlling the leds:

Pictures of the setup and wiring. The 16F690 is underneath the mini board. (Ignore the 8 pin socket. Its for future purposes):

very cool controller dude.

While I love your initiative in porting this code to a larger chip, It may have been unnecessary. you can control 8+ led's with a simple 12f683, with some creative wiring and flipping your outputs from high to low. watch the attached video. None the less good job on a nice controller and good luck. I say bonus points should be awarded for porting over the code... Will you post it?

Thanks for the positive replies guys. Much appreciated!

That's a very impressive video Mat. I'll keep it in mind for the future. I've attached the code for anyone who has a extra pic16F690 lying around and wants to test it.
