Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls, it is time for another Acidmods Winter mod off.
Mod off dates: 1/1/13 through 4/1/13 How to register:Send a pm to Modded Matt
As most of our members know we host small modding competitions throughout the year, with are largest competition being held during the winter season. Looking outside, it appears winter has finally reached Florida, and the winter season is now under way (Dec 20th) I think its time to get the ball rolling.
Format:
We try to keep our competitions diverse, but fair, so a few guidelines must be established with the help of our community. This year the community decided to have a "Retro Console" mod off. When I saw that I too asked, what exactly is a "retro console" being as how the xbox360 and PS3 are closing in on 10 years? It is exactly that, anything prior to the xbox 360 or ps3. This includes Nintendo, Sega, Atari, pong units (I would love to see that) even the PSP1000 sneaks in with a release date of 12/21/2004 and any other item release prior to 2005. Please contact Admin directly if you are unsure if your item will be allowed. No PC mods will be accepted without direct consent from site Admin.
due to lack of entries, we are expanding the criteria slightly. we will accept all versions of the psp 1000,2000,3000. (not go, or vita) as the psp was replaced by these items. We are also going to allow an original WII as it has now bee replaced by the new WiiU. Documentation:
A work log will be required for each entrant. There is a minimum requirement of three posts in this work log. These are: first: picture of an unmodded console, second: at least one progress update, third: a final video showing the completed mod. You may post more than what is required in your thread as long as the minimums are met and each contain your mod off number written in the picture for proof of ownership.
Entry:
In the past we have charged an entry fee for the winter contest. While I feel this helps weed out the members who wont finish, it also seems to detour members from entering the contest, so this year there will not be an entry fee and the contest is open to all new members and veterans alike.
Identity:
Unlike our previous competitions, your entry will not be required to be anonymous, anyone can enter using their registered Acidmods account. To register, send a PM to Modded Matt. you will be assigned an entry number which must be printed and present in all of your photos. Digital impressions will not be accepted. If you would like to remain anonymous, please indicate such in your registration message.
Voting:
Voting will be done by member polling. All members will have a chance to cast their votes. Each entry will be judged on three categories, using a scale of 1-5 points. IE. 1-5 points for originality, 1-5 points for appearance, and 1-5 points for functionality, for a maximum total of 15 points. In the event of a tie, an additional poll will be set up to pick the best mod. Each member will have one chance to vote and scores will remain hidden until the competition ends. (previous contest would show the vote count once a member has cast their vote.) Nobody will know how many points each entry has until the contest is complete.
Prizes:
First place:
Second place:
Third place:
The main goal behind the entry fee is to cover the shipping costs associated with distributing prizes, Since there will be no entry fee this year, the shipping costs will fall upon the winner. If the winner is inside the continental united states prizes will be shipped with tracking at no cost, If the winner happens to be outside the United States, the shipping cost will be submitted to the winner. Any Duty fees/taxes will also be bore by the winner.
