Here is my first submission for one of the contests here at Acidmods. Building a NES PC capable of being a gaming machine and LAN box. List of hardware:

i3 3220 dual core Ivy Bridge CPU
Foxconn H61S mini itx motherboard
4gb of DDR3 RAM
500 gb Hybrid laptop HDD
Powercolor 7750 1gb GDDR5 low profile vid card
Coolermaster mini itx power supply
Samsung DVD burner
Various cables for power and LED, and 2 USB ports to take the place of the front controller plug ins.

Clean looking NES case

Insides of the NES

Top down view of the bottom of the case unmodded

Top down view of the bottom of the case modified

Back cut out to fit back plate in for motherboard

Backplate installed

Sorry if the format is off with the photos, if it is, let me know so I can fix it. Bout halfway thru the build at this point.

just a note (dono what your end plans are) but the pins on the controllers and ports are the same as USB.  in my mod we put a usb hub into one of the controllers and one of the ports was used to run the controller.  so from the top of the controller we were using to play games we could plug in our flash drives with our roms!

feelk free to try it

I have seen similiar setups like that with the USB hubs and what not. They are pretty cool. Thing is, im not building this just to be a MAME machine. Its quite capable of doing that tho. Also capable of running Dolphin (Wii emu) pretty flawlessly. This will be capable of being a desktop replacement gamer. Will finish the build this week so you can see where im going with it :)

Build is done. Gonna post some more pics and a video to finish my entry in the contest. Was fun. Expensive and frustrating as well. Heres the finished product.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us I realize that I didnt include my sign in this pic. Remembered for the rest. Can remove the pic if it isnt allowed. Just thought people might want a glimpse on the inside. This was before I cleaned up the wires.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us Finished pic from the front.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us Finished back.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us Open front to see the DVD burner.

Hope you have enjoyed my build. Ill post the video in a bit when I figure out how.

Thank you. Short of signing up for a YouTube account, any easy way to post a video? Imageshack wont display it.
