ideas for new rf display
« on: January 24, 2013, 12:52:14 PM »
I have an opportunity to do something special for a friend , I don't play xbox and its not something I am making to sell. but I think it will better the community. I would love some input.
where I got the idea link

I want to make something that displays modes etc... in a better way.
I have thought about displaying just back lit images, but that would be to much space with all the different modes.
The tft in the link would make it so we could display what ever we want on the display.
a small tft resistive touch screen could be an awesome way to control and display RF/etc.
please lets work on something different and create something cool together...
[smg id=2901]

After some thought, I think this can be done. Touch screen lib can easily be found. And we know we can code for rf, quick scope what ever. We need to find a micro controller that can handle both. Why not go all out and have it re-mappable with macro's ? I am thinking like the complete remaps stuff we all ready have and just making the controls different and having a gui.

A really simple approach to this would be a led back light transparent image that is a fixed image , with say 4 zones or buttons. Use a restive touch overlay like the one in the pic. Use the zones or buttons just like tact switches. Then for display just use leds... mabey even RGB.

But all this aside start out simple but still be amazing.
I think a small tft touch screen w a simple but cool GUI would be sweet. If you skin the GUI that would be even cooler. Just swap icons and back grounds and bars and arrows etc. If anyone has ever messed with psp menus and themes you get it. But why not have it displaying and controlling your rapid fire or any and all custom controller functions.

I think I found something that can do this....

so at this rate With everything you want i say 100 In parts many hours of Coding, also a custom Case for the LCD and if you just going to

make it Plug in than need to be remove so you can Play with the controller than what is the point

How much would you think avarage Customer willing to pay to get this mod Done also if you adding macro thats another

14 input  with out anologs that need to Grab and since anolog and trigger needed to be Converted to Digital Need Dacks

So who is Wring that , so there for we need a Clip so at this rate You at 200.00 ,

Now to talk about the Software for the Macro if it works and Does what it does and not Half crap like Wolf Controller

Something Like Viking360 which took team of people  year to get done and close to 50K

so at this rate i give this success rate 1% but you can prove me wrong if you like.

Ah i forgot one think That was Just for CG Controller Boards so if you want Matrix controller Thats many More Hours Coding to make it work on both

Here what i do everything one has 2nd Screen In there house from Phones , Tablets,

use that for the screen since most people have it any way ,

need Your app work on android and IOS , Next Cuminacation between the 2 , Wireless Over Wifi or bluetooth

thats My approch the rest is Just Time and Testing  and Far as install goes I use Clip which I can help on that when you get there all model of

Controller and PS3 so keeping the Wires Down.

Now for this Idea
Quote
Another crazy idea. Using an mp3 player and using controlled sound files to be trigger outputs

thats was another crazy Idea Cyber Had the original Founder of Acidmods Turn Inputs to Tone that Save as MP3 so there for Store you

Macro Combo in Mp3 Player and take it to your Friend,  another Great Idea ,  would never work ,

Problems how do you Fine Tune and Controller the Timing In between the Inputs ,  For EX  delay 3ms than A A  and where You save all that Info while Recording.

Any way GoodLuck

PS : For the Mold for the case for this Turbo Fire EVO Wireless Xbox Controller with cheat-friendly LCD display if you still want to use LCD

the cost is 25K  i would start Playing the Loto Now

I was thinking of just a working prototype. nothing for resale. kinda like a dream controller.
Possible I think yes, plausible not really.

I have thought about the andriod app stuff and andriod devices like the IOIO device. But thats something else.

A dock able version using a chat pad and a larger screen.

If the device from spark is capable of serial communication could it not interface with devices like remaps made by people here. Try and integrate it with the mods we all use that are simpler also.

I realize it would be tough and I would need a team of people to help build some thing like this , maybe someone will help?

Come on it does have a cool factor ?

This idea started out to make for a friend but now I think I want to build it for myself.

I was reading up on dallas 1 wire... I think this is a good way to go.
a sample I found interesting.
link

They also make a dev board version of this.
Link
check out this lil gem... transparent displays... same dev boards. link
http://youtu.be/SG8fiff2qB4

I have found projects built with this, that include touch and other features that make me think this can be done. Libraries are there.

I consider this a nice challenge.

I see 2 versions , internal with 1.44" touch and limited features. like akimbo rf , quick scope , only trigger functions.
2nd would be a larger model with touch screen installed in chat pad shell. Try and include OSK. Plus have full rf/macros , the works. This one would be dock able.

I downloaded the software for the programming. It seams the visual version is fairly simple. Relatively speaking.
10 minutes of looking the program.

Update to programming. really starting to get into it.

[smg id=2904]

Also the one wire feature will be very handy here. Only 2 io points but touch and trigger input and out put is needed. From my understanding it can control other micro controllers by giving them addresses.

Anyone one wants to get involved pm me.

info on dallas 1 wire stuff. This link shows how to connect multiple buttons to a micro controller then control the micro controller via 1 wire master.

Thanks man I will continue to dev on this on the programing side until I have the money to get everything I need to build a prototype . If I can get dual trigger functions That will be enough for me to build it. Nice thing about dallas 1 wire is I can add to my network any time by adding the new address and its function to the code. I am thinking about adding sockets for Micro controllers of different sizes on my dev board so I can swap in new features w/o resoldering.

question? build dockable large screen version or build imbedded version?

I think carefully planning how the touchscreen menus will work will make or break this mod. The hardware is all available with microcontroller technology I think that is the easy part.

Thanks for the show of support Matt. I really like where this is heading. The more I learn the cooler it gets. Here are some of the possibilities I have thought of so far ... OSK (on screen keyboard for chat pad) , media player, ability to have sounds/animations for rf etc , Skin-able , Clock , LED rgb control with assignable colors to RF modes and combos of modes, on screen chat control with headset free chat , any thing else?
I would love to hear input from people. What would you like your controller to do?
