Xbox One Elite Controller 1 - Right Trigger self activating!
« on: October 16, 2022, 07:09:31 AM »
Hello, the controller is an Xbox one Elite 1

after a while it's plugged and used, RT receives input by itself. It's either full activated like in the picture, or influenced by the pressure of other buttons and movement of sticks.

Searching online I've found some threads discussing a similiar problem, but all they talked was tightning the screws and cleaning the board, which I have tried already.

Is there anything I can try before giving up, like checking and replacing a cap or reflowing a specific chip? I do have some xbox one controller spare boards but regular, not Elite.

thanks

The MCU on those things sometimes need a reflow to correct weird issues.
Screwing up is one of the best learning tools, so long as the only thing you're not learning is how to screw up.

OK so I've noticed that applying pressure to that specific IC in photo (MKL chip) made RT act weird, so I've proceed with reflowing it, and for now It works fine.  But of course I wonder if It will hold in time lol

EDIT 2 weeks later:
As I expected, the fix didn't last long. So I just gave up on it and bought an Elite 2  :victory:
