Need Help with Analouge
« on: February 23, 2015, 06:59:45 PM »
While I was desoldering the original analouge stick two of the pads for soldering came off. The pads were the top and bottom of the vertical row on the lower analouge, I did not see the traces to solder to in RDC's scans, so how would I fix this?

Edit: Board is CG2.

If you mean the pads at the Right Stick for the Y-axis (up/down) then you've killed the Analog voltage to the Left Stick, LT and RT as well as the RSY. The only thing that should be working is the RSX.

The easiest way to repair that would be to just install 3 jumper wires.

On the bottom of the board at the Right Stick..

Code: [Select]
G  X  V

          V
          Y
          G

Install the first jumper wire from the top V pad to the lead at V where you tore up the pad.
Install the second jumper wire from that top V pad to TP8 (located opposite corner of the large IC, this will restore the voltage to the Left Stick, LT and RT)
Install the third jumper wire from the lead at G where you tore up the pad to any Ground spot. Any of the 4 solder lugs for the Stick or the other G pad are Ground.

Make sure no wires are in the way of the bracing on the bottom half of the shell when putting it back together as you don't want them pinched.
Screwing up is one of the best learning tools, so long as the only thing you're not learning is how to screw up.

Thank you, That is exactly what I needed to see.
