NEW JDM-050 BOARD OUT IN THE WILD (PICS)
« on: September 26, 2017, 07:29:35 PM »
ALERT: Sony is at it again with totally new and unnecessary controller revisions (known as JDM-050)

The vias and a couple of other things have changed!

This was sent to me for modifications from a person located in Chesapeake VA, therefore these are potentially now out in the wild in the USA

The rumble motors have new retaining devices both in the front shell and in the middle housing

The Share and options buttons are now built into the middle housing and the silk screen flexible pcb has changed to one piece (again, rolls eyes)

disassembly is still the same, however now the battery is held in with an adhesive square and the screw is what holds both the tray and the front housing

The battery connection and wire holder is now flipped to the right side

The front light bar assembly is now rounded and the flex cable has flipped to the opposite side

battery and flex cable connectors have flipped to other sides

VIAS have changed, however it looks like RDC's JDM-040 simpleflex might still work (unconfirmed)

They went back to the 1 piece daughter board on the JDM-040 version. ;)

The SFX-040, and the JDM-040 RemappeD, both still work on the -050 version here, as well as the newer -055 version. The DS4 controller thread has also been updated with these boards now as well.

Screwing up is one of the best learning tools, so long as the only thing you're not learning is how to screw up.
