Elite Series 2 Joystick on Elite Series 1 controller?

Has anybody tried putting the 1797 joysticks on the 1698? (Elite Series 2 on the Elite Series 1? Does it work?

Nevermind. I checked the orientation and they don't line up properly.

The orientation has nothing to do with it. They are the same footprint and will work in there.

Do you happen to know a link or model number of genuine elite 2 analog sticks?
Or comparable alternatives?

Nope, I don't work on near as many controllers as I once did. Hit up VaNDAL_UK on here, he's across the pond, but might know of some place that does.
