1708 left joy stick remains down
« on: May 19, 2020, 08:49:44 PM »
I have this 1708 board. It left joy stick does not go up. I changed joy stick but the result is same. Checked the resistance for tp64 with one of the joy stick pressing down, gives some resistance. But TP63 shows nothing.
Any one who guide how to tourble shoot this issue?
Thanks

Check the voltage on TP63 with the controller on.

If it measures 1.8v, then either..

A - The Ground connection (Top lead) for that LSY POT is open.
B - The AN+ connection (Bottom lead) for that LSY POT is shorted to the Wiper (middle lead) connection.

Around 0.9v is what it should measure with the Stick in the center position. Pressing up the voltage decreases, pressing down the voltage increases.

Left Stick Y-axis. (up/down)

That would have been next on the list if TP63 read normal.

When one is floating like that, aka not connected, it can go either way or act all funky and jump around.

Center pin of vertical axis routes to other side of board and throughhole often rips off.
