Dualsense Analog Replacement
« on: March 30, 2021, 10:25:07 AM »
I soldered the analog stick to the dual sense pcb and it works great. Problem is now my R2 is constantly engaged. Does anyone know what possibly went wrong? Thanks.

Check all solder and clean flux liquid on the board, and try to assembly again after clean.

I cleaned and redid the points but still r1 works but R2 is engaged. I may have to by a heat gun to make sure the back of the board is clean.
thanks

Make sure the contacts on the end of the larger flex cable for the Trigger assembly aren't all boogered up. Sometimes it only takes 1 time unplugging and plugging them back in to all but destroy them. Also make sure the smaller flex cable that is on the assembly that does the actual R1/R2 is plugged in all the way.

Thank you all for the quick replies, Ive cleaned everything and resoldered one more time. the cables work great, I've even switched them to a diff controller to check all the connections and it still is the same thing.

Swap the Trigger assemblies and see if the problem goes with it. Just the buttons and that large flex cable are all that is different between them, mechanically speaking anyway, there is more technical crapola different that there is no point in getting into, as we're just looking to see if it's an issue with the Trigger module or if it's on the motherboard.

Switched out the trigger modules and new cables still nothing. R1 works like a champ but R2 acts like its not plugged in and engaged.

OK, so the problem stays on that side, so it's motherboard related. R2 goes straight from the connector on the motherboard there to the MCU, so the only thing that I can 'see' causing this issue would be something possibly down inside that connector shorting out the R2 pin to an adjacent ground pin, like a tiny solder splash from when the stick was changed out. Other than that, I'd have to say the MCU up and crapped the bed and maybe resetting it or seeing if there is a way to update/reset the controller with the PS5 might knock that back into line.

Yeah I reset the controller and updated it but still nothing. I think it has to be on side a where I messed up. Im gonna get a heat gun to make everything easier and then try again. thanks for the help.

good dualsense with sideboards disconnected shows lr2 as unpressed. so look for damage.

Make sure you didnt flip the trigger ribbon cable the wrong way around, it can insert both ways.

The flat? I checked it over and didn't see any extra solder or damage but I know I must have done something im waiting on my hot air gun to try again on another controller.
