Hi guys,

I'm having a problem with my 1537:
 - PC or XBOX not detected when plugin, when using the battery it not power on
If I try to hold the power button, it glowing but not bright as usual and turn off when I released the button. And the board heated up a lot. After disassembly, I found that all capacitors on MCU board is shorted. I don't know where to look next. Can anyone give me some hint.

Odds are just one cap is shorted somewhere. If you don't have access to a thermal camera (I know I don't) you can put a couple of drops of rubbing alcohol on the board here and there and then power it up and look for where it evaporates from first.

Also check that power IC at U1. If the caps near that chip are shorted, especially C8 and C9, remove that IC and check for shorts again.

I tried and the one heated up a lot is not from MCU board but from the top board especially from 2 coil R47. I measure and the C22, C23 is shorted. But when disconnect 2 board, the C22, C23 is fine.

I will try again with the U1 and C8 C9 tonight.

All U1 does is take the 5v from the USB and regulate it down to 3v for U2 and U3 to use.

The top board is where the 3.3v is made, but the bottom board uses it and whatever is causing the 3.3v reg to heat up will also be getting warmer than it should.

You can take the top board all by itself and plug it up over USB and test to see if all of the voltages from it are correct. Measure the voltage across..

C8 = 3v
C15 = 3.5v
C22 = 3.3v

The top board is okay when I tested it alone, all the voltage number is good. But when connect the bottom board, C8 = 3v, C22 ~ 1.1V and the coil started to heat up really fast.

Something on that bottom board is getting warm as well if it's loading it down that much. Best way to test it would be to power the bottom board with a bench top PSU while looking for it.

It seem like the U4 is the problem, when  I try input voltage U4 heated up a lot. I will try to replace it.

U4 uses the 3.5v rail, so that's not consistent with C22/C23 being shorted on the top board as they are on the 3.3v rail. If you suspect it, you can just remove it as all it does is run the Heavy and LT Rumble motors, so if it's the issue the controller will still 'work' fine with it missing for a test run.

Sorry for delay feedback. I did remove U4 and everything still the same. I try input the 3.3v rail and only the U1 is getting warm a little bit.

sadly, the U1 is the problem. when i remove it, the short is gone.
