« on: May 17, 2007, 11:01:08 AM »
Hi, I want to make a portable speakerset by connecting 2 speakers (8 ohm, 3 watts) I took from a radio to a 3.5" minijack plug from some old headphones...
Would this be possible. I don't really know how so... I'm guessing i'm gonna need an extra powersource too, since in wanna use it with my PSP/ MP3 player.... :help:

What do you mean by boxes?

Are you talking about speakers?

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant. I knew boxes wasn't the right word but I didn't know what was.

So I have 2 speakers (8 ohm, 3 watts) which I want to connect to a 3,5" inch minijack to make a portable speakerset.

I hope that anyone can help me :dntknw:

im taking you have a black and red wire coming from each speaker?

and do you mean a 3.5mm jack, headphone size?

All you do is run the wire from the speakers and splice it to the jack, assuming the jack has wires.

One Speaker

Two Speakers

Yeah, there are wires coming from the plug. But inside those there are a few that are copper-colored and a blue one (right) and a red one (left). Is this in any way important or just for recognicion?

I bought these speakers at a yardsale.  THey were computer speakers that I took apart.  They are 8 OHM 3 Watt speakers, and take 4 C batteries.  They get decently loud.  The 3 buttons are on/off, mega bass or something, and a volume control.  The left speakers connect to the circuit board by a wierd connector that resembles a small audio jack(3.5) and a tinier one, like used for headsets.  The red and black wires on the circuit board goes to 3 volts, and (you can't see it on the pictures) on the left speaker there are 2 extra wires, these are for the 3volts, having a total of 6 volts.

And this are the wires from the 3,5mm jack.
The red wire is pretty good to see. The blue one is the same. (but blue)

Hope that this helps/works...

It's doesn't work.  :cry2:

I'm guessing it needs some sort of powersource, like a couple of AA batteries or something?
But I don't know where I should put that. :sadno:

you need a mini amplifer for the speakers,...somethign that can take 8ohm....radio shack has mini build it your self amp...the wires like in the diagram shows how they are parellel or in insinc with each other.. a big diffrence is when in sinc the ohms double.... (8ohm+8ohm=16ohm) per one outlet....your better off being in parellel (8ohm each outlet)....
...emo freak out! >.< ........

random is fun
