[Tutorial] LED Fader
« on: July 17, 2007, 07:10:36 AM »
Hello there, and welcome to my first tut o__o
Well I guess some of you have seen the video of my PSP with the Fader, and well here is the tutorial on how to do it, it's really easy, don't worry

Supplies:
- PSP (or a Toaster)
- A Fader PCB from www.sickmods.net ( LED Fader Deluxe )
- Some kynar wire in different colors would be helpful too
- Advanced Solder skills ( You will need to solder on the MoBo)

Wireing the Fader:

Probably the easiest part off all.
Wire your LED Fader like this:

And this is how it should look like in real:

Well that was it, you are done with setting up the Fader, wasn't that hard, eh?

Wireing up the MoBo

I don't have muhc to say at this part, since it's just soldering 2 wires, at the same spot like at the Music Pusle Mod, so those people who already did this, can use their existing wires to make the Fader work.

(Credits to teh [HoP] )

Finish it!

Now you should have 2 wires left unsoldered, they are probably from the S1 and S2 spot from the fader, with those you can change the modes of your Fader. You can either solder them to a switch, or solder them to a Ground point, so the Modes are not changeable.

(Credits to www.sickmods.net)

Placing it?

Under the Wifi board folks ;D, I put mine close to the Headphone jack, not at the very right, it wouldn't close then, alittle more to the left, then it should close flawless.

Thank you for reading, boot up your PSP and hope you don't have any shorts, and enjoy your Fading LEDs ^_^

Any that have to do with this mod, also, do you personally know of any other place to get these boards?  I want to ensure this mod is accessible to anyone that wants to do it.

Well, damn I don't have many pictures because I was pretty much done after a short time. That are all I have.

As for other spaces, nah I really couldnt fit it anywhere else, over the Wifi doesnt work, the hole in the right under the Powerboard isnt enough, tell me another spot to store a Board.

Pretty coo man just a couple questions. So this is like the music sound mod but just with fading LEDs instead? Also gonna make a tut for when you add a switch so you can have all the diff LED settings?

The pictures to show what goes where are gone. If you could put them back up it would be appreciated, because I am currently trying to do this mod and I need those pictures to know where to connect the wires. Thanks in advance  :beg:

First of all, don't double post.

Second of all, the switch I used was just a normal SMD DIP Switch, you can find them on ebay or maybe even your local hardware store, you don't need any special type, if you want to turn your fader on/off, if you want more than that, you need a 3 way dip swtich (If I remember correctly).

You can find out where to wire up your LEDs by reading my tutorial...
Also you can wire your LEDs to the - on the Mobo, the - on the Fader and on the big gold spaces on your MoBo where the screwholes for the LCD Cage are.

Have no shame in being kindly and gentle, but if the time comes in the time of your life to kill, kill and have no regret. In the time of your life, live so that, in that wonderous time you shall not add to the misery and sorrow of the world, but shall smile to the infinite delight and mystery of it.

I'm curious why no one has done this mod with a 12f629 pic? They cost like $3ea, need only 3 wires, and take up a whole lot less room than the Sickmods fader.

Resistors? Do you need to use them in this mod. Are the led fader takes care of the amount of power going to the leds.
