Hey guys. We have set up an official Minecraft server for the readers of Acidmods. The server is called
Minecraft.acidmods.com
It's been up for a few days so some of us have had chance to play around. Including me and nico filling a small crater with about 600 blocks of dynomite and crashing the server and causing it to overload. Meaning we had to reboot but it was fun and now we have a massive crater.

what kinda server gameplay is it? peaceful? i've played on an anarchy server before.. man it was fun but it started causing problems in real life. so i don't reccomend anarchy lol.

Sounds awesome guys! But my only question is... will it work using a cracked tekkit copy? I currently lack the funds to purchase the real thing so am stuck using that.

Won't work I am afraid, server would have to be an 'offline server' meaning no authentication from minecraft.net and that comes with loads of other complications.
And F2 might help Mactastic :) for screenshots, which are saved to the mc directory C:\Users\Nevbox\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\screenshots

Come ride on Nic0s railroad. It's not finished but its usable and I'll add more to it tomorrow night. Anyone have other ideas? Let's hear them I'll try to build anything. (lots of free time)

Robin, look into some mods which allow only certain people to build in certain areas, so you can give each person a block of land in he main spawn area then have like a wilderness where anything goes.
Edit: Look at the yogbox, it's a compilation of good mods

Why not make it a Tekkit Server? Tekkit is a modified version of Minecraft, with MILLIONS of added stuff. It's really cool. With Tekkit, there's stuff like programmable computers, IC chips, quarry's and much more. Go check it out: http://www.technicpack.net/tekkit/ (http://www.technicpack.net/tekkit/)
I think it would suit Acidmods best because of all the extra content. You never get bored of Tekkit. Ever.
It's really not hard to set it up too.

I have played on a tekkit server, and I have to say, It's absolutely AWESOME, the amount of things there's to do is unending! there is however a client to install on the user's side. I don't know how to set it up though. You'll have to ask cobi_vw about that. He has some great insight on setting up servers and so on. Tekkit is defnately the way to go.

if one connects to your server with a add-on on the server the person needs that add-on im not sure if if they can still play with out it or not

ahhh ok so its not just a case of someone connects to the server and the client automatically downloads the extra textures etc.
well that sucks balls as i want this server at least to be accessible to everyone

i would ask on the minecraft forums as you'll get all the info you want there could be some that auto downloads for people

When you don't have the client tekkit mod, and try to connect to the server, it will tell you that. Tekkit has its own client application for the user. They simply download it and connect to the server from there. Takes less memory than the original minecraft client too.

PS the train is done for now but I am looking into ways to make it umm better...
@ROBIN, that's the one downfall to most any mod. Once you add a mod to the server you almost always need to mod the clients. That's the only reason I stopped pushing bukkit on you, even though I want it :P
We we do decide to mod the server I think we should just have a TOPIC describing the client side changes and links to all the required files... What do you think?

So I gotta say, the minecraft server is really looking cool. I love to pop in and see new things, even if its someones house...
Latley I have been playing santa. If you have a house with a chest, santa swings by in his free time and umm gives you presents. Yesterday I gave Wolf Mossy blocks 9 x 64 do that math.... :D
I am having a hard time reading other ppls signs however and thats weird cause I can read my own.

OK my cannon works!!!!!
12 shots in semiauto style, but you have to wait till the cycle completes before pressing the button again. Bad news, it does not toss the charge to the target..
after 12 shots you must break the gravel and replace it with TNT. Then place gravel 12 high near each respective tower....
Don't blow up my creation if you want a demo first let me know.

Where is your cannon. I may of broke it as I was walking around trying to work out what it is and stepped on a plate that detonated some TNT.
Also I made a nether portal and I'm building it up like a star gate.

PSSST server is offline for the next few hours BUUUUUUT i have created a fork of the current world and turned it into a bukkit server. now whilst it is offline - doing some stuff on my router - please make suggestions for any bukkit plugins that might be of use one ive seen so far is called essentials but keep on suggesting

PermissionEx - Basic permissions for different ranks. Eg. Admin, Mods, Normal Players.
LWC - Chest/Door Locking; Lifts
ChestShop - Allows players to sell items through chests.
WorldGuard - Managing protected areas, Sell areas
That's about the most basic plugins needed for a successful Bukkit server. If you need any help with those, just ask. :victory:

That’s right, the self-contained Tekkit server is Bukkit at its core, allowing you the entire Bukkit plugin catalog to be run with Tekkit. Many thanks to the minds over at MC Port Centeral for their devotion in porting vanilla SMP mods to the Bukkit platform.

LWC is a pretty versatile plugin, allows players to lock doors, chests, furnaces, etc.
WorldGuard is mostly based for the admins of the server. Allows them to protect areas, regions and configure them as they wish. For instance: Admins use WorldGuard to set the spawn of the map, then they configure what is allowed in that area; i.e: No mobs, No pvp etc.
Almost any plugin require configuration, but its not hard to set it up.

i notice lag lately myself

its not all the time robin just now and then but could just be my isp messing me around again

the lag lateley could of been my online backups - for the past 2 weeks i have been backing up the 4 computers in the house to crashplan 24/7 they are now all done so i wont be using up all the bandwidth on my connection. it also could be my isp has slowed me down this month as although the package im on is unlimited i have used 600gb of bandwidth in 2 weeks with the backups

Ok, 1st thing you gotta do is to configure all the different groups. This can be done by adding them to your configuration. everyone will start in survival but with a decent balance to start with.

Ok so that is the last time I am bothered with this game. I spent all day on this game yesterday, after leaving and loosing hours of work, I started saving every hour or so. I saved, logged out, came back today and my island is reverted back deleting all of the pic above. what the hell man, I am not going to keep spending time on something to have it deleted. its not like it was knocked down, it was like time backed up to a way previous save loosing everything from last night
that sucks.

See when I went to bed last night, I made sure the game saved by preforming /save-all (as I am admin) then I shut it down and opened it back up to make sure my work was saved, this morning the server was reverted to an earlier time. How is that possible......Did someone rollback the server????????

Ok I must of forgot to save the config file to remove whitelist last night so it was only temporary that the whitelist was off. All should be sorted now.

Hey Robin or anyone that might know stuff about the current world protect stuff... I want to know how to use it because I noticed things like the mob processor and my cannon had acdients and before I rebuild them (AGAIN :D) I want to prevent them from blowing up in the firstplace. I enjoy ppl using that sort of stuff but dont like to fix it... Anyone have any ideas?

You can select the area using Region, and then protect it.
You select the lowest corner and the highest opposite corner. You select the region using a wooden axe, to select pos#1 left click the block you want to mark. . To select pos#2 right click the block you want to mark. Then you would type in: /region define {NameOfRegion} ; /region addowner {YourIGN}. It would be set that only you can build in that region/area now. If you want to add players to that region, just do: /region addmember {theirIGN}.
EDIT: You can even add certain flags/settings to that region. You do this by typing: /region flag {YourRegionName} mob-spawning deny ; this will not allow mob spawning in that area. Those are the files I used. I take no credit for any of it other than the controller revisions. You can assign any keyboard key to any controller button, and adjust sensitivity/ dead zone for the sticks.
these files were downloaded for win7 64 bit, and you must click properties and run in compatibility mode for vista.

Anyone who hasnet been on the Minecraft server that has minecraft or is willing to shell out the 25$ odd bucks to buy minecraft, your missing out. It's really a blast and although were still in the process of building and configuring all the pulgins it is still supper fun with plenty of room to grow. its like having your very own community sandbox!

Well I apologize in advance... I managed to kill the server trying to figure out why trip wires don't work... I'm glad that only admins will have access to the set command cause I tend to break things when not using dirt or stone...

you can do //schematic list to list all schematics.
Robin you can delete the test schematic. I had to create that so the server would create its own directory to the schematic folder.

The default group can only chat and look so you will need to ask an op or admin in game to move you up to builder group. Obviously this server is a wip and we endeavour to make it better and better as we can and fix any bugs etc.

Ok I've put a few players I know of in groups. The other players will need to ask an op in game.
The three groups are
Default - can basically only chat and walk about.
Simple builder - can do all the basic default minecraft building.
Builder - as above but some more advanced tools.
Moderator
Admin
Owner

Yeah I've only done 2 stations so far. One called Nintendo lane and the other called shopbox. Need one by wolfs another by pyramid another by toads one by coaster etc etc.

you don't need a plugin to switch between tracks. Minecraft has that feature already
Ill have to show you how to do it with a detector rail... for an auto redirect raul system.
Plus now that i remember it i can make my SafeTrack tech for a rail system.

You really need to Join its so fun..... and I just made it well umm funner!!! I have added paint ball to the server. So now if there are two or more people on the server you can challenge them to a few games of paintball.... its a blast!!!!
I'm still working out little details but everything works right now you just need to type in the following commands
/pb lobby <----- to be placed in the lobby (teleports you to the lobby)
/pb blue <----- Joins you to the Blue team
/pb red <----- Joins you to the red team
/pb leave <----- To leave your team, then AGAIN to leave the game!
During games you can buy more paint, grenades and air strikes. I will install signs in the bases for you to buy things tonight...
Right now we have one field that looks more or less like speed ball.... However I'm adding Nuketown from COD BlackOPS for a second field, once I can figure out how to get players to select a different field.
and after the trains are all worked out I'll put the Minecart racing back up assuming it does not impact the trains...

Btw at some point in the not to distant future the mc server will be off for a while whilst I have some work done on my iMac by apple care.
Might be able to sort out another mac to run on but not sure.

Hey sorry didn't realise the server was off until I was told yesterday. I won't put it on today as I'm out at work and builder will need to turn power off. I will post here when it is back on permanently.

Ok server is up. Going to try leave it up. If it goes down it is likely electrics tommorow when builder is around. So let me know and I will sort it when I get home.

Ok guys after some downtime the server is back up and running now. For good I hope. I have updated it to 1.4.2 but did make a backup just before I did that just in case. Tell me if you find any issues.
