Do be scared dude, crack it open man. I'd love to see whats in there.

Apparently adding a larger hard drive is as easy as unpluging the origanal and replacing it with a new (normal pc) one. You must have to format it somehow though.

That certanly does look simple. I am not convinced thats going to work though. Surly the ps3 needs the drive to be formated in a perticular way. Unless it just does it automaticly.

wow. yea, uh I'm new here but I honestly don't plan on writing in the forums much, but I have pretty much have an idea of a few questions:

Now I'm willing to spend as much money possible (maybe in one shot or over time) but I need to know exactly what mods do I need to pimp my psp and over just show off. Now I want everything possible (and thats  everything: vibration, LEDS, etc) but I don't want to solder anything myself. The most I'll do is screw, glue, and the occasional prying of the LCD screen. ok here is somewhat what I want:

1) custom umd door jewel mod- can that be painted here?
2) Pre-wired Trigger Mod With Power Switchboard- do they turn on only when i press them? how many LED extentions are there?
3) Oscillating "3X Chaser"- I'm not sure if I want this b\c I'm using the flat black faceplate and it won't show up. possibility of making the lights in the button area instead? and will this hinder with the trigger mod? how many LED extentions are there?
4) Infrared LEDs-psp camara- i don't want this yet but any chance you'll be selling pre modded psp camera's?
5) ROLLING BALL TILT SWITCH- wtf is this?
6) Rumble motor 1.3v- does this work with every game? soldering required? instructions?
7) Pre-Order analog to digital replacement board- does this come with the joystick assembly? soldering?

thats about it for now, anything else I need before buying.
hope I posted in the right section, lol.

Hmm. . .no soldering, ok.

1. The jewels will require you to cut your own umd door. Its not to hard, theres a video tutorial in the tut section.
2. Theres 2 LEDs, they power on with the psp but it would be posible to add a switch (although this would require some soldering an a small cut in your face plate)
3. The oscillating chip requires soldering too. You could use it any wher you can fit an LED. Its been used with a jewel.
4. The night vision mod is still in development, you'll have to check back for that one ; )
5. The tiltball switch is to add motion controle for a ds or psp, another one that you'll have to check out later.
6. The analoge to digital dosent require soldering, not sure on the joystick.

Hope that helps

Hey Cyber anything to add to this??

wow, i didnt even know there where copyright laws for mods.

I had posted this morning but I guess it got deleted or w\e. I'll repeat it:

Im definately getting:
-custom jewel mod
-the pre-wired LEDS-question, about how much soldering would I need to do for a tiny switch, I don't mind cutting the hole, and maybe do soldering with low heat solder tape (I don't solder with string). and do you sell that switch with the package?
-the oscillating LEDS, exactly what kind of soldering, I don't wanna solder to my mobo or any other expensive piece. and does it only go to one set of LEDS or can I hook it up so it runs through the LEDS and the jewels?
-I don't mind about the camera, it would be good tho that you have a stock of psp camera's and instructions (I didn't see any)
-that tilt ball thing, thats most likely for games like Mercury? eh I don't want it then.
-what exactly is the difference in analogue and digital? I don't understand that well.
-oh and are you guys going to sell a dual analogue kit (I liked the idea of it but I don't solder...)

Ok man, some of those questions are answered in the faq, but I'll have a go at answering them.

Soldering on a switich is just two small solders, easy.

I think you might wana stear clear of the oscillating chip, thats a little bit mor advanced.

Theres no cameras in the estore

Tilt controle can be seen in action here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rloM534MHR0

the difference in analogue and digital is that analogug has more than one level of input, like  the joysticks on a ps2 and digital is on or off, like the dpad.

The analoge kit is on pre order at the momen. The first vertion will require soldering (there ar people here who might do it for you), but the next version will be solder free.

Hope that helps.

Cyber, want to add anything??

EDIT: Damb, looks like me and Dëšërt Føx carnt be bothered to read the top of this thread befor we post. lol

lol, I one who reads before I ask questions, and I read the FAQ's, they are unclear which is why I am here ;)

anywho. about the cameras, I meant I didn't see any instructions on how to install them (I knew there wasn't any in the store)
I'll hold off on the oscillating chip for now. I'll wait for the no solder version of the analogue kit. And another question (to add on to my myriad amount asked already) from the video, the tilt ball was attached to the DS's usb, does the one I would buy here come already like that so I just pop into the psp? or do I take apart a USB B-type and solder it on? (I didn't even think it was that small lol). I would get it just for Gran Turismo.

Post by: F00 f00 on January 06, 2007, 06:01:21 AM
I think the camera pretty much just pops into the usb and your good to go, the mod were working on is Night Vision. The ds needs to be modifide to add a mini usb socket for the tilt, you can buy those in the store too. The psp version however is still in development.

x-flash only on 3.03 OE-A, not the TA-82. X flash features are limited in 3.03 OE-A firmware. (I'm a god when it comes to modding the insides of a psp ;))

i am interested in becoming a modder, i have taken things apart in the past, i have experience in nitro rc cars, motors, etc and the basics. My question is, do you guys have a recommendation of a kit i should buy. Im thinking something like a small drill with many bits for sanding and grinding plastic etc. Pretty much for modding electronics. Also in the range of about under $100.

i use one resistor for every led so if u got 4 leds use 4 resistors but other factors come in to this like out put voltage if its low u could use a lower resistor and use 2leds to one resistor

Find an unpatched copy of GTA:LCS (an unpatched version will have a 2.0 update on it) and then download the downgrader. If you can't find a used unpatched GTA:LCS at a used game store, then check at blockbuster or a game rental place, they usually buy first edition games, and they should have one that you can rent and use to downgrade.

How do i make a custom gameboot and XMB thingy ?

Custom gameboots require using the leaked Sony SDK (if you have a copy and know how to use it), or there is a program called PMFPlay (I think that's what it's called, I'm not sure) that supposedly can convert .AVI files into .PMF files (.PMF is the format that gameboots must be in), but I can't verify that it works as I never used it and haven't made a custom gameboot in a really long time (almost a year at this point).

I hate to promote another site, but you can find Tutorials for making custom Gameboots and XMBs in the QJ forums, that's the best place to look, the people there have much more experience in doing it and would be able to help you much more than I can right now (it's late and I'm tired, otherwise I'd give you some links, but I just don't feel like searching that much).

lol, I one who reads before I ask questions, and I read the FAQ's, they are unclear which is why I am here ;)

anywho. about the cameras, I meant I didn't see any instructions on how to install them (I knew there wasn't any in the store)

The camera comes with a UMD which needs to be in the UMD slot for the camera to work. But truely I would skip on the camera. My phone takes better pics then a 1.3mhgz.... :-X
Title: Re: Ask Your Questions Here..
Post by: jrfhoutx on March 05, 2007, 09:04:59 PM
the camera only needs the UMD if you are running firmware below 3.0, after 3.0 it's integrated into the firmware and then the UMD is only used for editing. If you're running any OE then the UMD is almost useless. as for the image quality, it's supposed to be fairly decent, check out Neubit's threads on it and wait till next week or next weekend and I'll be posting another in-depth review, this time on the Chotto Shot (the camera), pics, vids and everything. If you read my Camy review you know I don't BS in my reviews I tell it how it is, I'm impartial and objective... so if you are trying to decide on whether to buy one, wait for my review and I'll tell you what I think...

Just dont get it.

If you have a camera phone, dont get it.

If you dont have a camera phone, get one.

can someone help me fix my anolog stick for my psp? i put a new dual layer face plate on from camy and after i finished the anolog stick went nuts. it keep going towards up left direction and i cant play any games and its really frustrating. my warranty wore out when i took the old faceplate out but can someone help me or direct me to a place where i can find help?

If you haven't broken anything all you should have to do is align the analog, doing that by tightening or losening the screws that connect it to the faceplate. Alot of people have this problem easily solved. :)

I'm new here....just got my first psp 2 days ago and haven't done anything to it yet...lot of money for me to throw down to break something in the first week.  Anyways, the whole camera thing kinda caught my attention.  I have 2 old cell phones lying around and was wondering if there was a way to cut a hole for it somewhere in the case and just have a button actually take a picture.  I imagine that this may take some kind of software writing, but it was just a thought.

As my stock of old cell phones continues to pile up I can't help but revisit this idea.  The cell phones that I have, 2 audiovox smt5600's (camera is about 1/2 wide with the mirror thingy and 1/4" tall) and a palm treo 650 (camera is about 3/16th of an inch round.  I don't see howit could be that big of a deal as far as space goes to put it in.  After thinking about it, the camera software is pretty much in the psp already as it allows you to hook up a camera via the mini usb port, so I figure it may just be a wiring thing?

Basically say you have a youtube video link like:-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tX5MsaHqzG0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tX5MsaHqzG0)

You copy what ever it says after v= and paste it when you are doing a post.

The just highlight it and click the youtube button (https://www.acidmods.com/forum/Themes/default/images/bbc/youtube.gif)

I have never modded anything before and it probably safer if I dont. But if there is a step by step walk through that may work too.

Well i just recently decided to switch the casing and stuff on this new slim (2000) I bought. So as you can see I dont need too much help... yet. I plan on installing a white casing and blue buttons on my psp slim. Along with a sexy little blue ring to add onto the back.

So far I have ordered the ring off of eBay and Im in the process of ordering the white psp slim casing as well.

However Im having a real tough time finding a good complete set of blue buttons to go along with the casing. I have seen plenty of places with blue triggers but not the rest of the buttons.

So for now I really need help finding a set of blue buttons for my slim. After that I will be trying to learn how to switch casings.

Please Help I cant find em ANYWHERE ! ! ! !

Sorry, your best bet would be either

a) posting a thread in the auctions (remember to accept rules)
b) looking on ebay
c) buy a full blue case

I'm pretty sure they don't sell just dark blue buttons.

edit: Oh wait, you can get the action buttons, but Idk where to get directional ones.

4. The PSP soundboard thats in the acidmod shop, do I need that? What does it do since it seems I dont need
it to do sound reactive LED. Im guessing it makes it easyer to do multi LED sound lights.
8. Alright, running out of questions, really this is part of an idea for a new mod, but would it be possible to
move the battery? I mean to say, move it to where the UMD reader would be. then have the empty space for the battery
open to the mod?
9. The bumped area just above the screen, when I first got my psp I thought it was a speak, completly wrong...
Anyways, is there enough room up there to put a mini speaker strip up there? (if those even exist) If that
wouldnt work, are there ultra mini speakers that are beter than the OEM ones that could replace them, not counting
the large speaker replacing the UMD reader.

EDIT : Just removed the crap out of like 9/10 of this post, could somebody still answer those tho...

Dude, go google/search for a bunch of this. Read like the first 5 or so questions and already I'm thinking SEARCH! You may not get specific step by step tutorials, but you will find threads of people who've had your problems in the past, lots of diagrams, tips, etc.

...do u think I'd write and post something that big if I hadnt of searched google? Most of the hits are answers on forums with some dude with a lame :censored: answer. For example, a large amount of the answers are, search google, or googles your freind. I know to use google before I ask somebody, I have and now im asking.

But that is a lot of crap I didnt need to really ask, could have thought about the topics more, BUT could I still get an answer on Questions:

4, 8, 9

Go ahead and skip the rest, that I guess was me being bored, would have blown off reading that too... :eyebrow:

W/E just skip it all, but read those 3, might edit the post If I can right now..

Alright I'll answer those.

4. The sound chip is supposed to be "better". It makes it so you can use the wifi switch to turn it on and off. I guess there arne't that many more advantages, and apparantly direct connect looks even better than with the sound chip if you're doing it on a psp slim.

8. Yeah it would probably be possible. Just route wires from the battery connectors into your umd drive, and attempt to solder them to your battery. There's very little space in those little slots for the connector on the battery though, so maybe just stripping ilke an inch an cramming it in there, along with some hot glue will be sufficient. Good idea. If you decide to try it, show us the results!

9. I don't really get the second part of your question about replacement speakesr and the umd drive, but for the first part, are you talking slim or phat? If it's phat, no clue. Slim, I don't know what you're referring to.

Thanks for those replys that cleared up a bit. First post was too long, like 5 paragraphs.
But yea, I have a Phat PSP, one of the early ones, got it April of the year it came out. Anyways, in the second part of my question. Im wondering if there are speakers the size of the PSP ones, and could replace them completely.

You can create a magic memort stick using your pc if you have a card reader. Then just follow a tutorial on how to create one. I did this myselft not to long ago.
