Stand Out Contest
intro: we have a little bit chat with a few of AM members, and we kind of want to come up with our own independent competition.
objective: - as an intuition to level up our skill in modding
- to promote a healthy competition between members to become THE BEST modder in AM
- and most of all, for the fun and joy in modding.
Rules: there aren't much rules in this competition, BUT... we must all agree to mod on the same console. For this current competition, Rodent and I have agree on doing it on a CONTROLLER (PS3 OR XBOX360).
Date start : AUGUST 13,2011 (entrants may join after the start date as long as they submit a picture of the stock controller
Date ends :OCTOBER 8th,2011 (Vote end date October 15th POLL 1 vote per member)
winner: will be decided by poll
Prize: for the moment there are no prize. we will ask for the art section to make a special siggy. so the winner of this competition will have the honor to wear the siggy until the next winner is crowned.

[spoiler]Red tiger Xbox 360 controller with see though where the red paint would be the abxy will have either bullets or are see though with
Red led shine thought or as a back light rapid fire. See though dpad with light shineing though or. Bullet with red back light red rol and red Back light on the rb and lb buttons with a red glow from the micport. I'll throw the stock picture on when i get home because I'm at a campsite tonight till tomorrow at noon

1st entry:
[spoiler]Here's my starting point. Please note this controller is for a client , I was just given free artistic reign . I had the controller modded before , it has a 4 mode RF installed. I will be updating that to an 8 mode with a programmable setting. I will be doing a bunch of clear mods , including clear sticks and dpad w gears logo molded inside and smaller gears logo's inside the buttons. Everything will be back lit red and I will be doing a led swap and dual color for 3/4 players and RF. The images in the picutre show the analog and buttons graffix.

2nd entry:
[spoiler]This is my second entry into the standout. This one I will be doing for my daughter Olivia. (Love you my lil modder)This has been a plan of mine for some time and unfortunatley I have been busy with other stuff . Well my daughters birthday is in early sept and I figured I should make her a new controller for her birthday.
I will be doing a PS3 controller in a SNES controller shell. I will be using the analog stick instead of the dpad to be able to still have most kids games able to be played. I will be placing purple and pink leds and back lighting some clear PS3 buttons (luckily fit right in the SNES only cut of extra tabs.)
Also I will be doing a disney princess theme for the graffix.

[spoiler]OK so here is a controller a friend gave me and hes giving me $30 to do whatever i want to it. The plan is to cut slits into the case and figure out how to put some kind of epoxy in there to make transparent slits for LEDs to shine through. The controller already has rapidfire in it so there is no worry. Then when im done with all of that I will sand the paint down a bit and clear coat it so its shiny and evenly coated.
If i have any better ideas for the lights like rumble-reactive i might try it but for now its going to be on/off with the controller.

about half an hour after this picture was taken my mind started wondering what lurked inside so i opened and fully dissasembled it ready for modding, and don't test my pritty pink towel...

Oh i've realized i havent mentioned what im doing here. Well its nothing special but im painting it to match my xbox, which i've also never played on. Aha before you ask, as soon as it was swapped for a packed of cookies i started work on it and im still half way though doing it. Its a watercooed and cookie monster themed. I've also taken plenty of pictures during its creation so when im done i'll post them all. All work has ground to a stop atm because my boss thinks shes absolutly hilarious not paying me straight away this month so i've only got £1.20 rolling around in my bank account for all the bankers to laugh at. Can't think of anything else to tell you but watch this space it may surprise analy rape you. ttfn

Plans: I will be putting in leds and bullet buttons(if i can find some). im going to atempt to do an anarchy theme, so i will atempt to paint an anarchy symbol on the controller. I have a general idea of what i want, but will prolly be adding more things as well.

I was hoping to see more then 4 people, just to get the more people interested in modding the ps3.
The reason being there isnt many mods out there and I believe this would get more people interested in the PS3 modding .

(I might be biased by the fact that I can afford to do a controller, lol). If we can make it PS3 or 360 controller (or at least 360) I might try my hand at painting a controller, and it might give me some incentive to finish my code to include with the mod.

I have sent wetfusion a PM so hopefully we agreed on everything, and he should post something soon start and end dates this is pretty much an all out mod to bring the best talents foward and hopefully others will want to join in also. I hope to see some really good results come from this and some really nice work from our members :hifive:

So my question is can I enter a second controller for the PS3? The xbox controller is a clients controller and is on a deadline, If I get enough time I would like to submit a quick PS3 controller I have an idea for for my lil girl. That way I can show off the dark and brutal side w my xbox controller and my "daddy" side w a PS3 mod.

nice one lax, now theres a "community comps board you should make a child in there for this comp so the entrants can make work logs, else this one thread with everyones work logs in will get very confusing and cluttered....
then next time someone wants to host a community comp another child board can be made for that... so on so forth... it'll keep it nice n tidy in there for us to moderate...
i soo wish i had my modding bench out here in france so i could enter this one.... but there will be more.... :)
n nice work on this so far guys glad to see the community coming up with things to help push modding further....

nice dude, but it would be awesome if you could do an external analogue like people do on PSP. 2 mini USB port at the bottom, so if you want to use the analogue sticks just plug both in. :D
AND you could actually still makes it rumble by using some old vibrator from old cell phones and etc! those are relatively small enough i think. here are some example

well the old cellphone rumbles are exactly what i will be using! lol, actually, that is a good idea to add a expansion pack for the analog sicks... well my primary will be simple games and to use it in netflix :)

Dam it geraldrubalcava my idea for my lil girls PS3 controller was going to be a SNES controller but i was going to use the analog instead of dpad. I was also going to make it fully functional. I even have 2 different size mini vibs like pictured .

sorry man! lol well i was going to keep the snes original as possible so no analog sticks for me. lol the only thing i will need to add to the controller is a ps button but other than that it will be like original lol. hum... if i find a CG 360 controller i will make a ps360 controller the RDC fashion way lol..sorry man!

I just wanted you aware of that, and wetfusion set the dates today I posted them but alot of people didn't see them so I had him update them on first post. you seem pretty far a head and seen your other post was on the july 23rd. so if you could then I would say start another controller mod something different.
also I know wetfusion forgot to mention this that you had to start with a stock controller . He did update but forgot that part I asked him to will talk to him tomorrow

Yea. Started since 23 of July with a black ps3 controller. But burned out the board. So I used my white stock without modds this morning along with a stock snes controller. I've bin all at it today. lol and the reason why I added it to the July 23 post was because I dint want to duble post.
Well yea basically everything was stock this morning. Then I will discard this idea for the mod off.
Is it ok if I use a wired ps3 controller(stock) and a official 360 controller (stock too). To make a ps360? Just wondering if it's ok for the rules :)

Yes thats fine, just gotta post a work log like everyone else has and just has to be in by August 6th 2011 and can't start on it till August 13 2011 reason we did it like this is so people had time to get there things together and get up the money to do there mods.

Reason we gave it a week between pics submitted and competition start time is to give people time to get up the money and things to start the competition. not being funny rodent but whats wrong with people joining in after the start date, as long as they post up a start pic of the standard controller...
when we do the mod off's people can enter after the start date....... its means people who dont check the site as often, can enter if they want to.....
or new comers to the site can enter....
as long as people dont start before the start date.... theres no reason to have a final entry date.....
it just seems a a bit stupid to me doing it the way you are... yeah ok it gives the earlier entrants time to plan and order parts before the comp starts.... but sooo what if someone wnats to join a few days late or even a few days before the comp finishes.... its not cheating.. its just give them a handicap (a handicap that they dont care about else they wouldnt be asking to enter) ... and if they want to enter you shouldnt turn them away... its very counter-productive....

I agree with spurgurgle, if someone wants to enter late, they are putting themselves at a disadvantage. If they can overcome that and still come up with the best mod, more power to them.

and yes i no "if it was a acidmods mod of they would have to meet the required dates..." but usually the only required dates are finish date and start date (as in dont start before set date)

I got Toads shell just about done but I dont have enough to finish or even start my gears one. I will be backing my gears out and waiting till fall , But I dont want Toad to miss out over this and I think he's got a good chance... All would be fine if I had the money to go out and get more acrylic , but I just dont got it.

Yes i was just talking to toadzilla about that, and told him we might have to push it the end date back to a later date but we can only go like a week or so, we cant run in to the October ACIDMODS, MOD-OFF people need time to get that ready also and prepare for it and hes not the only who has PMed me and wanting to drop out of competition, told peopl to keep working and we will see what comes of this probably going to have to push the end date a week further

we have extended this long enough, when I extended it last time, due to the fact doing console mods are going to take longer and people have to get parts, the competitiion ends MONDAY SEPTEMBER 12,2011.. we descussed this in the beginning reasons why we could only extend it for a week last time.

intro: we have a little bit chat with a few of AM members, and we kind of want to come up with our own independent competition.
objective: - as an intuition to level up our skill in modding
- to promote a healthy competition between members to become THE BEST modder in AM
- and most of all, for the fun and joy in modding.
Rules: there aren't much rules in this competition, BUT... we must all agree to mod on the same console. For this current competition, Rodent and I have agree on doing it on a CONTROLLER (PS3 OR XBOX360).

[spoiler]Here's my starting point. Please note this controller is for a client , I was just given free artistic reign . I had the controller modded before , it has a 4 mode RF installed. I will be updating that to an 8 mode with a programmable setting. I will be doing a bunch of clear mods , including clear sticks and dpad w gears logo molded inside and smaller gears logo's inside the buttons. Everything will be back lit red and I will be doing a led swap and dual color for 3/4 players and RF. The images in the picutre show the analog and buttons graffix.

[spoiler]This is my second entry into the standout. This one I will be doing for my daughter Olivia. (Love you my lil modder)This has been a plan of mine for some time and unfortunatley I have been busy with other stuff . Well my daughters birthday is in early sept and I figured I should make her a new controller for her birthday.
I will be doing a PS3 controller in a SNES controller shell. I will be using the analog stick instead of the dpad to be able to still have most kids games able to be played. I will be placing purple and pink leds and back lighting some clear PS3 buttons (luckily fit right in the SNES only cut of extra tabs.)
Also I will be doing a disney princess theme for the graffix.

[spoiler]OK so here is a controller a friend gave me and hes giving me $30 to do whatever i want to it. The plan is to cut slits into the case and figure out how to put some kind of epoxy in there to make transparent slits for LEDs to shine through. The controller already has rapidfire in it so there is no worry. Then when im done with all of that I will sand the paint down a bit and clear coat it so its shiny and evenly coated.
If i have any better ideas for the lights like rumble-reactive i might try it but for now its going to be on/off with the controller.

Oh i've realized i havent mentioned what im doing here. Well its nothing special but im painting it to match my xbox, which i've also never played on. Aha before you ask, as soon as it was swapped for a packed of cookies i started work on it and im still half way though doing it. Its a watercooed and cookie monster themed. All work has ground to a stop atm because my boss thinks shes absolutly hilarious not paying me straight away this month so i've only got £1.20 rolling around in my bank account for all the bankers to laugh at. hey guys i've noticed that the finish date is now the 8th of october....
well im back from france now so am sat behind my old modding desk back in the uk..... i have various half done projects, un started projects, fresh pads and som busted old pads/boards... a few leds and chips about the place.... soooo am tempted to enter... if its ok ???
i no theres only like 10 days left.. but i can throw a entry togeather in that time.... not enough cash or time for me to spray it but i can mod it none the less in that time frame...

i never left AM... im always lurching around in the background every day or soo..... just now im back in the uk i can start modding again....
as for my comp entry ill dig something stock out tomoro and start butchering old projects and spares to make something.... im sure i could make so simple led /rf mod... got get it done quick as im on the hunt for a job and could end up starting work a soon as next week.... so i aim to get the bulk of the work done tomoro wednesday and thursday...

Unfortunately I am not going to have mine done. I made a lot of progress on my code, but I think I burned myself out on coding and had to take a break. I am gonna get back to it soon, but had a lot of other stuff going on in life and whatnot. Good luck to all who entered and finished.

Oh trust me, I still fully intent to get my code working and releasing it, I just need to find the time. I have to work out a few bugs, so I will have to ask a few people some questions, lol. I also took a break because I wanted to give a break to the people I was bugging, lol.
Look at it this way, now I can be an impartial voter for the contest, lol.

@ magic_man185 if you would of finished your code and even thru some regular paint on your controller you would of been tuff to beat .

I want to thank everyone for Joining in on the Stand Out Competition. The Competition will end at Midnight Tonight EST. Its 8am now so got around 16 hours to get pics and videos submited. I hope you all have had alot of fun, this lasted alot longer then I expected as for some of you got yours done in the amount of time needed.
Thanks so much for joining in. hopefully you all learned some new things meet some new people and made Acidmods a greater place than it already was.
