Title: Tutorial Videos on how to Make Clear Buttons
Post by: Pickee on January 07, 2012, 04:09:29 PM: Hi guys. I'm new to the scene but figured I'd contribute. Just made these 2 videos on how to make clear PS3 buttons and the mold. Hope you guys find it useful! :hifive:

Post by: 1TONpete on January 07, 2012, 06:32:10 PM: Great work dude. I've done some ps3 buttons myself, I know what goes into it. It took me a lot of trial and error to get them like glass. Analog sticks are the hardest things to mold because they are so thin. I love your block set up. Going to use that. I just made a hot box for acrylic curing . I do my molding on an enclosed ventilated porch. I have not had a chance to post pics of the hot box yet. But I wish I had some one like you when I started.

Ive done he high points at the base of the r2 trigger but I can't seem to get the clips right. I just think I need to take more time pouring.

i used the face of the triggers as my high point. Then finished the face by hand. my molds are latex tho. and for the triggers I had to do a mask like mold instead of a mold block.
For analogs you are going to need to learn 2 part molding.

Ive done the 2 part molds for the analogue sticks but its hit and miss when i make them. ok i used that part two for the triggers but the two parts that stick out. seems to work well just need a syring to put the epoxy in :P

We have problems with spam bots around here. It goes away after you have been here for a while.
BTW a syringe is the best way to put in all your molds. If you do a 2 parter , you can use the syringe as a vac also. vac molding has less air than injection.
