nice pc pspmodder i like it.
but im going a different route im designing my own case from an old one. i still a lot of work left no near done yet. keep in mind the whole getting an image in the post is new to me soooo i might do it wrong. is there a easyer way then the imageshack site?

I like it!!! I use photo bucket to upload my photos. Try down sizing your pics before you upload them then they will come up like mine. I will put your pics up with mine!!! Keep posting pics!

What is that case made of Aluminum or steel? And you used a grinder to make the swirls right? DId you make that case or buy it? I love it!!!

i made the case and i used an cordless drill attachment. it was like a metal brush. and i think it is steel at least it feels like it is. but i dont know what to do with the front face plate. i do have some metal contact paper. but i dont want it to look cheap. ohhh and should i clear cote the who.e thing like even the metal swirl or not?

By the looks of the metal I would say it is aluminum, Is it heavy or really light? If it is really light it will most likely be aluminum, and due to the extreme chromeish look I would say it is aluminum, If it is heavy it will probably be steel, and in that case steel will rust when it is bare ( the way you have it now, ground down) so you might have to. Sanded steel has this bad habbit of rusting. After I went to school for front end, I had add some body experience to round myself out. After working in a body shop for 6 month sanded metal lost its appeal to me. (unless its machined and the swirls are exactly the same distance apart. When you move it catches the light and looks like a hologram.) How deep were the scratches the wire left?

actually i thot of somehthing to do with the front cover....and it is to junk it...i am actually going to replace it with plexi glass with black painted on the backside. then it be on a hinge to swing open to the bare metal of te case front and it will be swirrled then that is where the drives will be. the on the plexi that will be painted will have a desing that will be same color as the original plexi (clear) then some LEDs behind the symbols so they light up and maby some LEDs that change colors evry now and then.
what do u guys think. but i cant paint cuz where i live its like 30 degrees and i cant paint then and its snowing to.

go to www.vadim.co.uk custom made pcs. They are pre modded (window, UV cables, overclocking, water-cooling etc). A bit pricy though. And takes all the fun out of modding it yourself. You can also buy the parts and mod your pc yourself. :tup:

Holy CRAP, when I saw that watercooling was over 650 pounds or whatever currency that was, I almost fainted or peed my pants or something of that sort...thats insane!...Im NEVER buying from them...

I'm a classic Lian Li modder. My computer is now over 5 years old(built in 2001) but has been upgraded frequently. Much of the hardware in these pictures is no longer in the system. The motherboard pictured is an Epox 8k3a+, and the video card is a geforce4 ti4600.

are you tubes uv reactive or is it an additive.

I've got some uv dye. It's the stuff that PCMods used to sell. It doesn't have any pigmentation in it, so it doesn't mess up your pump.

It's a common misconception that computers like mine are expensive. I built it in 2001 for $1500, and since have put only about $400 of upgrades into it($150 for a new mobo, $100 for more ram, and another $150 for the new graphics card). So I've had this computer for 5 years at $1900. That's only $380 per year!
When you know what to buy, you realise how much companies like alienware rip you off.

The thing that is plugged in in my Keyboard is my MP3 Player (iRiver S10 2GB , import from Hong Kong :cool: yes I am very proud with that baby). The g15 got 2 usb ports and is a amazing keybaord, got it for 4 months now and it still works like it did when I got it.

its the ASUS PC Probe II and yeah it only works on select ASUS boards

not really rich i guess i just mooch as much money as i can if i want to. Let me explain to you. lunch costs about 20 a week at school. My mom doesn't give me $20 every monday so i she gives me when i say i need. I can say i need $20 two times a week without her getting suspicious. If i buy cheap lunch ($1) i can get around $35 dollars a week and $140 a month and $1820 a year. This does not include other bonuses like all A's on my report card or birthdays or holidays. I also got the big screen tv cause my mom and dad upgraded to a new 56 hd tv in my living room so i got this old tv. My dad also bought a new camera so i got his old one. It was also time for a new computer so i made a list on new egg and kept revising it until my mom and dad liked the price then i started to upgrade with my monthly savings like water cooling only 250, mx revolution and g15 100, and so on. My next upgrades might be a new 8800gts for sli a new case or another monitor for dual screen.

i used the same idea all through highschool (except with £ not $) and i also did some dealing on the side in school (until i got threatend with expulsion when they finally caught me in year 10) that how i have managed to now afford my nokia n80, apple g5 mac, macbook pro, custom pc, 2 psp sony camcorder, hi-fi, surround speakers for my pc's, wii, ps2(broke), moped and car(these had some help from parents)

The tubing pictured is Tygon R3603. It's lab grade technical tubing. It's a bit expensive weighing in at about $2 per foot.
Since I took those images, I have since replaced all of the tubing in my system with clearflex. It's significantly less expensive at about $1.20 per foot, and performs almost the same. I have noticed that clearflex has a 'memory' associated with bends, whereas Tygon does not, however.
One thing to consider is that I use a full 1/2" system, not a 3/8" system like most. My tubing is thus 1/2" ID 5/8" OD, which gives me significant wall thickness to deal with kinks and bends.
As for my drives, I just bought some industrial velcro, cut off the tabs from the bay covers, and velcroed the suckers onto the drive trays. Your way = several clicks = slow. not to mention having to wait for windows explorer(sometimes) to open on a single processor system like mine is craptacular. talk about an annoying way to get a cdrom out =P

don't make the same mistake i did...go with the 8800 gtx because once u get the 8800 gts u'll just want to get the 8800 gtx right after and also get the biggest case u could afford and liquid cooling because once u get regular heatsinks u'll want liquid cooling

acrylic cases show scratches and alot of dust. i mean that is the way i interpreted it as i used to have a acrylic case. i love them. but if your cables arent organized and have a personal look, like you can c that mine has the way of blue and green and since that picture i have installed round cables and some more fans. but if you need help in what to choose give me a PM and il give you a chance to hear my opinion

I would if I had a program that would use my webcam properly. I have to use a third party program to take pics because Microsoft's webcam tool for THEIR LifeCam isn't working on my VISTA computer.

My case is straight up boring. Its a killer machine, overclocked to 3.4 ghz (highest without blowing the damn thing) Zalman CNPS9700 LED heatsink, damn sexy Radeon X1300 with CrossFire, a gig of ram, blah blah.
Anyway i need advice. A case that will show off my sexy gold plated cables and hot LED heatsink without breaking ye olde bank. Any suggestions? lets say somewhere areound 150 bucks max. And acrylic is okay by me.

YEP!!! thats ma setup after the new carpet.. every thing on one small desk.. i use to have home built stilts but the screws stripped there 4x4 treads so im makein a new one. with 4x4 and 2x4 and not 4in screws(th 4 in screws went into the floor and i didnt know so ma dad was mad and so thats also why i have to re build it)

well guys here is a video and some pics of my desktop and computer setup - my desctop isnt very tidy at the minute but this setup really help keep the bulk off my desk. in it is my mac G5 and my Windows box(shudder) my macbook pro isn't in shot as it was downstairs but i will do another video when i got it all setup with all my computers as i usually have them plus i will be changing the case of my windows box. and maybe putting some lighting in that cupboard.
my 5.1 speaker set are dotted around the video and picture. when my room is a little tidier i will do a video tour of my room

no not drugs - i went through a selling anything i could get my hands on cheep and made a quick buck doing that until i almost got expelled so i stopped. then there was the old parents for the MBP who said here is your christmas and birthday and easter etc for the next 2 - 3 years.

i have a first gen MBp which is core duo not core 2 duo. secondly as i said above i dont have a mac pro i have a powermac g5 which i bought second hand. the g5 was the modle before the mac pro and isnt intel based it uses an IBM chip

thats the case i have siting in my room right now. im buying the processor and the OS at the end of this week. i have all the cash i need to buy it all right now, but im spreading it out on my credit card, so i can build credit. (unfortunately you don't get any paying off a car loan that was cosigned)

By far I thinks its one of the best cases out there. I have no cooling issues what so ever! The only down fall is its kinda noisy with all the fans :dntknw: But other wise its a great case and I highly recomend it.

I noticed on the 8800's that you don't have the power going to the cards via power connector. I suggest you do that if you havn't yet.

Think about this. UV reflective case that has inside a UV cathode.

One of my dads friends have the case, i saw my brother build it, and it looks awesome, my bro put a blue cathode on the straight side of the window so you cant see it but you can see alot of light and he put in water cooling and filled the tubes with a uv green coolent, it was awesome, it had a 8800Gtx in too, which was overclocked and a quad core, overclocked. And a 22" monitor, it was awesome, but i didnt get to play :(

he replaced the blue Antec 3 speed fans with red Antec 3 speed fans. there not as bright, but he gave me one of the blue fans from his case and today im going to order a slew of cold cathodes (for his case, my case, other friends car, ect...)
ill throw more pics up, when he gets the cathodes in. and expect the first draft of my computer in the next fue days. (parts are ariving soon :w00t:)

Its all custom machines out of expensive parts, and its rocking Dual QuadCore Extremes, and Triple SLi 9800 GTX's now, that alone is about $5000 of kit.

i would have gone with 8800 GTX's the 9800's have almost the same specs, but all of there buss rates are slower.

Here's a PC mod I did - I created my own MAME Arcade.
The basic materials I used are:
Broken Mr. Do Arcade Machine (gutted it out for the case)
21" CRT
Act Labs Light Gun
X-Arcade roller ball and dual joystick TANK controllers (I purchased both before they came out with the all in one controller)
Dell PC (old one, forgot the model)
5.1 surround sound card and peakers.
Mini Keyboard
Plug in light.
Lots of color print outs.
The PC is accessible via the coin slot and collection doors so I dont have to open the entire machine just to turn it on.
I used a USB extension cable so I can plug in external drives to do backups and massive data tranfers.
It's networked wirelessly.
It contains nearly all MAME Roms (5000+) as well as all the emulators listed about (loaded with roms) and every retro remake I could find.

This is beginner rated difficulty as it really doesn't require any special tech skills.
It is not step by step because the mod was not documented along the way but I will do my best to explain. It's really easy. I listed this under linux because in the end it is running Puppy Linux Live CD. I'll explain.
Time: A few hours.
Tools and material needed: Laptop, screw driver, hot glue gun w/ glue, velco tape, foam blocks, drill with various size wood cutting bits, shadow box big enough to house laptop. Mouse, Operating system, USB HDD or NIC and foamcore board.
Basically, I have several old laptops. One I used for parts so I admit, the original laptop I used was not nearly as good as the one shown in the before pic. It was missing many covers, a keyboard and had a cracked case.

I will try to explain what I did without pics then follow up with some pics of the final. Hopefully it all makes sense.
1. Prep the laptop - This means that the laptop should be able to boot up without a keyboard to an operating system that has a picture slide show installed. My laptop was too old and didn't have enough memory to load anything good. Basically the only OS I could get running on it was puppy linux. I could not even get it to work off the HDD, I could only get it to work off the live CD. So I formatted the 4GB HDD with a linux swap partition and an ext2 partition. The live CD finds the partitions, uses the swap for better performance loading and unloading images. The ext2 FS partition is for storage only of the pictures.
2. Puppy linux comes with a built in slide show utility that allows control over transitions, and display time. I like the display time feature because I could set it for mere seconds, all the way up to 24hrs per pic. I chose 4 hours.
3. Before taking it apart I tested eveything to make sure it would work. I booted to linux with no keyboard, just a mouse plugged in, I ran the slide show, I inserted a usb hdd to copy files to the internal HDD (If I can find a wireless USB adaptor that works with Puppy Linux, I will install that instead so I can access my pictures directly off my media server). Ran the slide show, disconnected the mouse. It all runs fine.
4. Next I power off and begin taking it all apart. Seperate the monitor from the rest of the body and remove everything from the screen (all housing). I had to make sure I could fold the screen 180 degrees backwards so that the back of the screen would rest up against the bottom of the laptop.
5. Once that was confirmed, I used a pen and xacto knife to measure the inside of the shadow box and the outer circumference of the VGA LCD screen so I can cut out a frame for the LCD screen from foamcore board. This is used to fill in the gap between the LCD and the shadowbox that is visible through the front glass.
6. I placed the foamboard frame in to the shadow box and confirmed the lcd screen fit fine. Then I made rough marks on the inside of the shadow box where the USB port is and the PS2 port.
7. Remove the laptop then drill holes of appropriate size through the sides of the shadow box for USB and PS2 port access.
8. I used hot glue to affix the foam board to the shadow box, I used velcro tape to fasten the lcd screen to the bottom of the laptop. I varied the use of hot glue and velcro tape to affix Foam blocks to the laptop (for weight support and cushioning). Basically, I had to imagine something going wrong and having to take the picture frame apart in the future to do hardware work on the laptop so anything I needed to access could not be perminantly sealed, hence the use of velcro tape.
9. I put all of the innards in and secured in place. I then affixed the power supply in place with velcro tape and routed the power wires accordingly. Lastly, I drilled vent holes in the backboard of the shadow box. I aligned one of them so I could access the power button on the laptop. Then I made a notch for the power cord.
I plugged in a mouse then fired it up sealed and ran my tests, the usb access was perfect, the mouse removal and insertion access was perfect and everything worked great.
I spent about 35 bux on the parts and currently have a 15" Digital Picture frame with over 700 Hi Res pictures loaded. It's been up and running non-stop since Christmass 07.

wow these are all sweet computers, My computer specs are pretty good, but it is just a dell computer with a normal dell case. Would it be a good idea to take me dell case and put a window in it and put some leds in it.I have never took this computer apart before, but I am pretty handy with modding and computers.The case is one of those real skinny cases if it matters.

dell computers have a different case than other case. Meaning that the holes you use to mount the motherboard to the case are in different spots than in other cases. Maybee you should try some mods on the case you have now :yess:

You cant easily case swap a dell, since the Mobo isnt ATX, PSU is different, GPU layout is different, but you can mod a Dell Case.

I just bought a case to try and do some modding on it cost me £12 now all i need is black and blue paint some base cote and some clear gloss, 2mm clear plastic and 5mm Blue plastic, Chrome rivets, i also want to get some buttons from MPCTECH, i will also need a blue and a red cathode case light, and i would love to do a turbine in the front of it. and tool to cut stiff with. now to start buying the parts. i will try to order the parts over christmas depending on my money and then it will probably be easter before its done as i got to do university in between and my dorm room isn't big enough.
p.s. do any of you know what font the acidmods logo is as i have forgotten lol i know i should know but whatev.

Just finished cleaning it all and setting it up today. Worked on that little monitor for a while to get it to accept the xbox input, but it was worth it. Halo 1 is the best and I'm gonna set it up with my Mac for Xlink Kai or something similar so I can play Multiplayer over the internet. And I'm gonna try and hack the Xbox with Linux once I get my hands on an action replay set. it's 1.6 though :(.

Not mine but I did the mod for a friend. I don't know a lot of details on the pc, other than quad core AMD, and the low profile video card was 1 GB ddr5 hdcp w hdmi. The lil guy is for a media center PC. The fans even being external are very quite. So my friend bring me his low profile card that wont fit in his lil case. Its to thick. So I look at and go we can just make a cut out and push the fan case through. Leds are coming soon. Here are the finished pics.

The dual fan looks like memory fans I see pretty cool but make sure he keeps the fans clear cause I would hate to see that HIS Video card burn up.

the Noctua NF12 have absolutely amazing static pressure peformance, and are silent as a owl! and they're the same price as any other fan in Australia

the Noctua NF12 have absolutely amazing static pressure peformance, and are silent as a owl! and they're the same price as any other fan in Australia

If you are interested in good static pressure fans I have had good results with the corsair sp series. Never tried the noctua, agreed they are an eye-sore, that colour scheme only works in a select few builds.

Haha, if only I wasn't studying right now and could afford to throw a lot more money into this build.. I have big plans for it! If I got the Noctua NFf12 I would defiantly spray paint them, could not deal with that colour..

Has it been that long since i looked? Last I checked the nocs where around 20 a pop. SOme sythes where running closer to 15. I havnt bought fans in a while and I just went with some r4's lol.

Just some pics of how I usually game, with the couch pulled up, and the table with the Logitech G19 keyboard, Logitech G602 Wireless Gaming Mouse, Logitech G240 Cloth Mousepad, and a Dolca palmrest. Although it's not shown in these pictures, I sometimes put the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro flightstick on the table for flying games, and use my Xbox 360 controller for fighting/action games or emulators. And to have the absolute best Wifi connection to compliment the Wifi antenna on my desktop, upstairs right by the work pc I have the Netgear Nightwawk router, currently the 2nd best router on the market second to the ASUS. I chose this over the ASUS since they are pretty much the same speed, and the Nighthawk has such an appealing look - like a stealth fighter :hifive:
