Title: Xbox elite controller won?t power in with battery
Post by: Mac123 on May 31, 2022, 10:13:33 PM
 I had to replace a
stick on an elite 2, I managed to blow off two
of the 3 components to the right of the FT 11
area, I discovered this after I put the controller
back together and it would not run on VIA
battery?(battery tests fine and worked before the stick swap) only if I plugged it in. not sure if it is
three resistors there or two and a cap in the
middle, anyways I salvaged what LOOKED like
the same components from an older
controller, put them on and the controller
turned on.

Once I powered it down and let it
sit I came back to it and it wouldn't turn on
again? unless I plugged it in or turned it on
while it was on the dock?it then can be tuned
on and off via battery. Also if I disconnect the
board from the better then reconnect it it will
turn on. I'm wondering if the components I
used are a bit out of spec or something else is damaged.

I have noticed that C20 and C14 double beep on me when in continuity mode black one ground.  Haven?t tried switching them out yet as I?m not sure if they are supposed to do that.
Any advice is appreciated as it would be great to fix

Basing the replacement components solely on their looks is great way to let the smoke out. Unless they came for the same version controller and the same spots, that's never a good idea.

To the right of FT11 is..

Resistor - 100 ohm
Capacitor - 100nF
Resistor - 100k
