Hers the programmer i use

http://cgi.ebay.com/PIC-USB-programmer-Microchip-ICSP-12F683-JDM-FromCanada-/290429407520?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item439ef11120 (http://cgi.ebay.com/PIC-USB-programmer-Microchip-ICSP-12F683-JDM-FromCanada-/290429407520?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item439ef11120)

It works with pretty much all the common pics, and the most common is 12f683.  Especially for rapid fire controllers, and led mods.  Such as making chasing leds or flashing leds, etc.

Lol ya, thats a really nice programmer.  But do you really think you will be using all those pics listed??  If you just want to do the basics, the only chips you will need are the 12f683 and one of the 16 series.  Every hex on this site except for i think one, use a 12f683 pic.
