I'm not a fan of all of it but some of its really kick ass :censored:
I basically wanted to just have a discussion about it
People are always incorrectly defining bands as it and it really pisses me off, basically elitists and idealist twats just use it to define any band thats not classical or death metal that they dont like much.
Nu Metal is a genre which basically defines a band that mixes heavy metal with either rap/pop or grunge elements. Punk is not included in that, thats Punk Metal, or if its hardcore, Metalcore/Mathcore
Mudvyane for example have always been labelled nu metal, this is stupid, there is no rap elements there, KoRn are as tehy have rap style bass and drums and some of the vocals are.
Put your opinion out there......

Nu Metal always seems to be derogative. I havent actually bothered to look into the genre but for the most part i dont use the term at all. Actually it seems to be more of a label than a genre.
So what are some good Nu Metal bands [besides KoRn] that you've been listening to?
Personally i've been quite attracted to the ever elusive popcore as of late  [pop / punk / hardcore] Check out the band Four Year Strong if ure into that stuff. and the new coheed and cambria is straight up amazing.
-
slipknot is considered nu metal in some circles. i agree with serriph..its more of a label than a specific genre.
-
It is a genre, people jsut use it as a derigortiory lable,i agree with you there, i just dont think its right, its a genre with a time and a place, like grunge for example came from seattle
-
my favorite is when people simply refuse the fact that a band is metal simply because they don't like the band. [or in any genre for the matter]
-
agreed

The techno/pop elements of which you describe when applied to genres outside of techno is called industrial music
because of there hardcore parts i'd put them under one of nu metals sister genres Rapcore cos theres rap elements to the vocals
So Industrial Rock/Rapcore is where i put them
-
im more into Metalcore, Death Metal, Black Metal, Indie, Rock, Heavy Metal, Rock Metal, Indie Metal, IndieCore.
-
i think limp bizkit was labeled as nu metal. i prefer nu metal over normal metal and rap because it has a much better flow and it still has the, uuhh hmm loss for a better word, so oomf to it
