Keep it like that and you will get loads of flaming on you....
i like tec, dont mess with him
-
i thought it looked friggin awesome! I need to find a tiny inverter tho, whered you get yours tec?
-
i bought my inverter from coolight.com
http://www.coolight.com/product-p/cl-imc-1.5ft.htm (http://www.coolight.com/product-p/cl-imc-1.5ft.htm)
i got 5 of them and i ended up destroying 3 out of the 5 before i was able to strip the case off to a point that would work well. after i striped the case i used some heat shrink to insulate it.

Strip Casing
Heat Shrink
Would I be able to solder it to the same points as LEDs would go? And have Hold turn it off? Im guessing yes...
How exactly does the EL wire connect to the inverter?
I REALLY want to do this.
-
yes you will be able to sound mod it, hold switch, just so long as its on the dc side of the inverter
check this out for how to solder

i also have bough from vibelights they just didn't have the right size inverter
-
awesome. any resistors needed? sorry if im being a pain
-
theoretically yes you need a resistor, but im not using one, so im expecting the inverter to burn out. i don't use that psp much seeing as i have 2 others. plus the cool mods buttons i got for it suck and aren't that responsive. so i use it more as a show piece.
-
may you recommend a resistor?
-
some thing close to 120ohms is what i think i calculated it for
-
Tec, i added you on MSN as i wanted to talk about using El Wire for a Home Cinema, and wanted work out light throw, heat, where to buy etc.
-
i should be on in about an hour and a half

The company i work for used to stock EL wire in NZ!!
But sadly they discontinued it before i started working there and there is none left in any of the other branches :cry2:
Anyway i have been interested in working with EL wire and am looking to do a PSP mod with it myself at some stage (time/money) lol.
Also due to high demands for ELwire at work we may be stocking it again (if ppl higher up agree) so maybe i can get from here instead of coolwire.com
Anyway let ya know
-
the real trick would be geting your hands on the inverter
-
yeah from what ive seen the one Tec recommended me is the only one of its kind
-
Anyone doing el-wire might find a use for el tape. flat and in different widths uses the same converter. Migt give a different look?
-
i think i would be a B to put the tape in a psp, but it would be cool to line the bottom of a ps2 with it. would have a nice under glow/back lit effect
-
some thing close to 120ohms is what i think i calculated it for
was that based on the amount of el wire you had?
-
no its baised on voltage drop and amperage
-
no its baised on voltage drop and amperage
so that would vary for the color right? [im using red, vs ur blue]
-
no its dependent on the inverter
-
Bump to see how every one is doing. any one still working on it?
