Title: Decisions..
Post by: Timmy on December 12, 2007, 08:05:32 AM
Time to help Timmy out...

I'm in a dillema, i used to own a 30GB zen vision m which broke after two years loyal service, i have been using a 1GB Sony walkman piece of garbage we got given to use for messages on hold which didn't work with it.

I gotta get a new mp3/video player but im stuck for decisions....

I mean the iPod classic looks good and all but the one flaw is the MP4 video format, my entire video library is in AVI/DIVX which is WAAAAAAAAAAAAY better in quality

I could get another zen vision M but 60GB edition, but the ipod has good value for money.

Or i could wait for the new gigabeat with 480x272 screen, 8 hours video playback but im pretty sure they favour WMV

What would you guys pick? Or do you have another solution? I need AVI playback, good aesthetics for music playback on the go and good battery life 5 hours + and 60Gb or more capacity

Thanks Guys

well you could convert your videos to .mov h.264 format which i think the ipod supports which is just as high quality as the others i think and go for the 160gb ipod clasic

if you got lots of movies, i would reccommend an iTouch, for its bigger screen.

yeah but its tiny capacity ;_;

Why does apple have to be so....apple orientated GAH

i mean converting over 35gb of video doesn't exactly take a few minutes....

keep em coming guys

if your going for style like i did then ipod touch but if your going for memory then for $50 less than a 16 touch, get the 160 gig video/classic,
idk how that price works out though???
8gb- itouch- $300
16gb- itouch- $400
160gb - classic- $350

i know, and lets face it, the touch has NO space

its jsut an iphone without the phone function is it not?

just sounds like apple trying to rip off its loyalist fan base again  :sadno:

I do like the classic i'll admit, if it can be hacked for avi playback id :censored: myself

im hoping slighltly revamped macbooks and macbook pros, so shops like PC world have the old ones cheap again.

You need to see the classic, the screen isnt that big, say half a PSP Screen, but the iTouch's screen is almost the same size.

oh :censored: it ill jsut got he ipod classic, sure apples video formats are rubbish, which is ironic considering they try to sell themselves as more of an entertainement os then windows

but its still a quality Portable media player and the best option for me atm, ill just convert them, put them on the ipod and keep my nice hi-res AVI's on my pc :D

thanks for the input guys

plus in other news, i heard on a few pages the classic firmware has been cracked and sample code run on it.....

not sure if it was the iPL team
