My DS was disassembled for a long time and when i go to assemble it it doesn't work.
When i plug in the charger, the charging light blinks and thats all that happens.
-
put in your screans all the way in, blown fuse maybe, the battery has probelms or lastly, the battery connecters are out of place
-
I think it's a blown fuse.
-
I think it's a blown fuse.
do both the screans flash? or one?
-
Actually, I have no clue what's wrong. I bridged the fuses. Still nothing. I left for about five hours, turned it on with the battery while it was disassembled, and the DS fired up perfectly.
So I thought, sweet, it works. So i re-assembled it, and of course it decided not to work again.
Any other ideas?
-
Its a short.

Its a short.
yeah, basiczlly what he said :/
-
Heh. I figured that out immediately.
But where could it be shorting?
My guess is behind the touch screen and the mobo.
-
Anyone got an idea on what I can do?
The DS mobo is just sitting on my nightstand staring me down.

why are you leaving it there? and whats did you need help with?
-
Because i have no other place to put it
Where do you think the short is?
I disconnected the whole bottom mobo from the top assembly and it still shorts.

what? I dont understand you right now, sorry, just reword that
-
Alright. I disconnected the top screen and 2 wires from the motherboard.
So the motherboard isn't attached to anything, so I know the short is on the motherboard itself. I bridged those 2 fuses and it still won't work.
But I know it can't be a blown fuse issue, because it gave me the same symptoms after i bridged them. It worked a couple hours after that for some odd reason although.
So as you said, it must be a short somewhere. It won't work even when i lift up the touch screen. So the motherboard must not be shorting with the metal on the back of the touch screen.
Do you have any suggestions on what to do?

Fixed it.
I resoldered the fuse bridges. The solder on the fuse closest to the slot 1 metal tray was touching the battery terminals. Which caused the short.
The touch screen won't work now.
-
Ok, now that the whole short thing is sorted out, the motherboard connector for the DS touch screen is busted.
Nothing we can do about that besides buy a new motherboard. Sucks.
Thanks!
-
oh well, soryy I wasnt any help, but yeah alright cool I guess
-
Nah. You helped. You made me look at the battery terminals where the fuse was.
So thanks.
