I have a fat psp but on a recent trip to puerto rico somehting got fried.
i checked on froogle and saw import ice silver slims for 200 which is
a good price but i was wondering would the japanese origin of the psp
effect cfws?
I wouldnt think it would but my original psp was Us so i dont know
if anything would happen due to japanese psp using different
firmwares for 1.5 and 3.80

custom firmware wont be affected by the psp country of origin. ive done two psps from japan and one from hong kong and they are no different, u just change the language and umd region via recovery. You also will want to change the select button to X or O depending on what u use.

The UMD region in the recovery, last I checked in 3.71 M33-4 +1.50 kernal, only effects which icons show up in the XMB. It will not let you use other regions UMD videos.
Please note, the only things I did not test were ripping a UMD video of a different region and the various options with a video ISO. All testing was done using a UMD from Japan on a US PSP, one that wasn't released in the US and was imported.
