Title: Switching a memory stick...
Post by: Slimby on January 12, 2008, 01:42:05 AM
As we know, pin 9 of the MSPD is the VCC pin. I've wired up 2gb internally, pin for pin, with a 2 way switch on pin 9. Switching it one way connects internal to the power supply, switching it the other way switches the swappable memory. However, neither memory stick is recognised by the PSP. I'm certain I have a bad connection on pin 9, but do any of you gentlemen (or RA1N) think it might be something else?

I might try soldering the two wires together, and seeing if that works. If so, I'll try another switch.

I just posted in another thread that you said this in, didn't see this one first.

If a switch on the power doesn't work, try putting a switch on the 2 grounds.  I asked about this on another forum, and thats what I was told should work.

yea thats a good way because switches like wifi and hold are negative and i'm sure slimby knows this already

However, from memory the data pin and the negative are connected. I actually think my wifi board is broken, because even when I have one memory stick connected up (minus the switch) it doesn't recognise the stick. I'll do a little more work on it, though.

Well, I managed to get the internal memory stick to read. I had a couple of loose connections. I think I'm going to take away all the wires in there now, and redo everything with the best joint I can possibly get. It's awfully crowded in there.
