Hello I need some opinions on weather or not I should buy a Intel q6600 quad core. Right now I have a e6420 dual core oc'd at 3.2ghz and I am thinking about getting the q6600 quad core and overclocking it to 3.2ghz. Is there going to be a big enough difference that it would be worth the extra 279.99 or should I just stick with what I have? Thanks

Right now there isn't a real reason to do it unless you are doing some serious multitasking. I would suggest for now just do a ram upgrade

With specs like that you just need to ask yourself, "Am I experiencing ANY kind of lag or performance issues" before you consider a quad core. I personally wouldn't bother with it because the quad core market is more aimed at rendering and serious multitasking (HD video output/editing or engineering programs)
Even still, more ram is better because Vista takes up to 512 away from it at the start. Go ahead and grab 2 more gigs for the price of the processor.

Yeah, your spec's are just fine, the RAM is a good idea but that isnt even necessary, for the price of a quadcore u could get a 32gb flashdrive and convert that to ram using vista's readyboost feature. You dont need a quadcore unless ur running 4 games at once.
-
Quad Core will bottlenecked with 2Gb of Ram, and you will see very little increase, buy an extra 2Gb first.

i plan on getting a new pc sooner or later since mines crap and i was planning on doing lots of video editing and perhaps 3d rendering and animation so should i get a quad core. and second question would it be a good idea to get some cheap kingston ram for my comp i found on new egg since my comp is slow as balls.
-
Well it depends what kind of ram u want, If u give me the type and speed of ur current ram, i could find u some sweet deals, oh how bout 2gb ddr2 for 25$?

sounds sick i only have 512 mb right now i dont know wether its 2 256 but i suspect it is.
