i don't think tha landlines and mobile phone calling gives much of an advantage... remember, that you need to hav WiFi access and th Skype credit is pricey...

Since Skype functionality was scraped in Japan, you have to change your psp's region in recovery to get this to work.
And skype credit isn't that expensive. It's pretty useful if you are traveling internationally. All you need is internet and you can get in touch with anyone. 2.1 cents/min to America... great since I'm in Japan.

I think I might go all out I have wifi at home and wifi at work, with as little as I use my cell phone skype would cost me under $60 a year, whereas I spend $45 a month on my cell

yeah you can start with $10 or the best deal is $3 a month which includes all calls to cell phones and landlines.  go to the website and read up on it, it's a good deal anyway you look at it.

Need a mic built in to one of the speaker ports... then you could hold the psp like a real phone... lol

thats not a bad idea, but instead of replacing it make a hole just underneath it

not exactly, i have not gotten mine yet so I am not sure, I would not put it so close.  It might pick up vibrations (or sound) from the speaker itself.  but on my fat it is on the face about 3/8 - 1/2"  up in between the screen and yellow power connector.

good point i didnt think of that, well what about putting it on the back? this way you could use larger speakers and not have to worry about interferance

yeah, prior to install I hooked it up to the standard (fat)port, while facing south not more than 1/2" from the left speaker it picked up alot of interferance, then I bent the wires so it was facing southwest, and all interferance was gone.  So it doesn;t take much.  internal mic and internal itrip is what i want for my slim

So who has used it so far, how is the sound quality, is video phone a feature (yet)?

well theres a sound test, but other then that i havent used it. and whats really kool i guess is that the first call is free but the sound through the normal speakers is pretty good
