How can i change the firmware name to 3.90 OE-A instead of 3.90 M33. do i edit the prx "vshcntrl.prx" with hex edit?

So do you mean like change it from 3.90 m33 to 3.90 KE. A good place to ask is at either of the two sites.

you can impress friends with CFW say you made it make it more personal. that sort of stuff. i would but too lazzy.

you ed it one of the files with a hex editor but it has to be decompressed - i did it with 3.52 m33-4 and changed it to 3.52 OE-D, but really its not worth the hassle i know i have tried it

I tried it to 3.52 M33.

if your on 3.52-4, use version spoofer (google it)

You could name it what ever you want!

well to a limit, if you look at the vshcotroll prx file were the version is kept you can only use the space used and provided, otherwise you set chinease writing and a generaly screwed psp

and that counts for any prx you change, for example you can change icon names but they have to be the same amount of characters =]

sorry to correct you but icon names are under rco, and you can have any name lenghth under rco (using rco editor)

I would also like to say I wouldn't have been pleased if you bricked your PSP again. Reformatting MY MS to Unbrick your PSP! GARG!

It takes only two minuits to edit very easy. Get PRX Compressor v0.41 and a hex editing program( I used Hex Workshop)
1.connect psp
2. go to Flash0:\kd
3.select and copy vshctrl.prx to desktop or where ever you can access it.
4.open PRX Compressor v0.41
5click on "Quick Decompress" (bottom Right big Grey button)
6.select the vshctrl.prx you saved
7.then click okay
8.select a location to save the decompressed vshctrl.prx too.
9.open up Hex Workshop or the hex program you are using
10. click file open select the decompressed vshctrl.prx
11. (for Hex Workshop right click and select Goto) Goto,offset: 00018172. (make sure Decimal(Dec) and beginning of file is selected.)
12. go to the far right and you should see
............3...8.0. .M.3.3. . .....http://updates.dark-alex.org/updatelist.txt.....(depending on what version you have)
13 highlight the value you want to change and type the new one in
14. after your done it should look like ex. "3...8.0.G.K.2.1. ." Depending on what you want it to say
15. Now save
16.select the saved file and replace the one in the Flash0:\kd
14. your done

Well i got a replace ment yester day a FAT one perfect condition.(Only without PSP for the longet 10 Hours of my life.) Bad part was i had to spend money to buy it.(I hate spending money on any thing i almost didnt get it)
And i dont have a 4 GB card no more. Spent my darn christmas money to get it. (was going to put it in the bank for a laptop in 9 years if i felt like i could release the money to buy one)"my money in the bank would have to be triple the price of the laptop to even consider using it"
Hey does any one know if you can extend the writing space for the version or were the "-" and the "5".
hint iam using 3.80 m33-5
just were the "-" and the "5" will do no need to spend time tring to extend the space unless it is some how possible. doubt it.

If it does what it says that mean no hex editing sweet. i will try it on 3.80-5 it may work who knows.

It is made for 3.90 M33, and for some reason i can not get it to work right on my phat or slim...the file size (of the txt doc with ur cusotm version name) can not be more than 10 bytes, mine is 6...they don't say to add it so vsh.txt or anything, but it does not show up in the plugins if you don't, so I added it to vsh.txt, cuz that just makes sense... but still does not work >.> I might be missing something cuz I am tired :), so I'll try it again later and let you guys know if I get it working...
