Alright, I was checking up on a way to find any troubleshooters for your ds invovling firmware. Instead I came across a youtube video that was made by LeKordes. Basically it shows how you can chcek the firmware on your ds through a series of simple instructions, and finding out the fimrware is like looking at a resistor color code chart, easy :D. Different firmware versions have different behaviors if a DS Game Card or Game Boy Advance cartridge is ejected during Pictochat [1]. To determine your DS firmware version, follow these steps:
No.1 Way:
Insert an authentic Nintendo DS Game Card into SLOT-1, or a Game Boy Advance cart into SLOT-2, of your Nintendo DS.
Turn on DS (hold Select+Start if you have autostart enabled in the settings).
Enter Pictochat.
Enter any chat room.
Eject the Game Card or GBA Cart from the DS.
No.2 Way(non working if firmware is v.1):
Turn on DS (hold Select+Start if you have autostart enabled in the settings).
Enter Pictochat.
Enter any chat room.
Close Nintendo DS and observe color of the screen.
Result:
v1: Pictochat hangs
v2: two grayish blue screens
v3: two dark green screens
v4: two golden yellow screens
v5: two magenta screens (DS lite units have this)
v6: two dark blue screens (un-confirmed new DSes have this)
iQue: two dark green screens
As FlashMe is based on the v3 firmware, FlashMe will behave like v3 (two dark green screens).
In simpler terms, just have a card inside, turn on ur ds, goto pictochat, and remove the game card out, depending on the color, you will have one of these versions. Of course I will try to do some research on this to see the significance of this in terms of using any flash carts or showing any slight differences between each other. By the way, just for poop s and giggles, post your color here and be proud to have it :D. (If an admin can sticky this, that'd would be awesome :)
(BTW: Mine is purple :D )

One of my DSs turned blue and my other one dark green.

Means one is version 2 and the other is either an ique ds, or a flashed ds... or it could be version 3 :P. Just realized how hard it's be to figure out your firmware if it is dark green, unless you know it never was flashed and it doesnt have the ique logo on it.

Purple is basically the lastest, that's normal. Did you flash the other DS yourself or bought it that way? I'm guessing it's just something else since apparently 3 different versions have the same color.

I figured some new and interesting info for those who use flash carts for "homebrew" and "backed up" games (lulz). Basically, any DS bought from USA after Oct 2005 will have a new specific firmware that prevents the use of a Passme to flash the DS. Of course, not too long after this was discovered, the makers of Passme made a new cart, the *drum roll here* PASSME2! :D or I think it was called the Flashme2. Anyway just some interesting info. Oh and I have to find out, but mainly concerning the ds phat. Apparently the lites have a newer firmware that prevents alot of malware to screw the firmware. Phat owners (like myself currently) should be careful, as any homebrew program can be disguised as a malware program, which when started will immediately screw your firmware up. Some can be fixed through flashing, but others can be pwned to the point of calling in nintendo to fix your DS, and knowing what you did, they won't be happy with it XD. But just to give fair warning. BTW my ds phat is VERSION ONE :D. Screen freezes and everything :).

So is purple V7 then? I read someone say it was the latest and it only went up to V6 on that list but purple wasn't listed.

bcuz thats what mine is and if there is something special then i wanna know
