Ok what ive been thinking is why do we need resitors my 0603 leds are 12v resitance witch means they wont blow unless i use a 12 v battery my psp battery is 3.6v tell me why i was talking to my brother with he is like 32 with a full uni course sholarship for tecnhitions and he agreed to it as well we came up with why would car leds in the headlights blow or over heat they have 30 times more Volt in the battery but have 5 times bigger in leds is specs that means its like putting a 15 v battery into my psp 0603 leds so we tought why do we need ????
L1A
respond please we are really intrested into this me and my brother
-
soooo.. i didnt need resistors?
-
I think (http://encyclobeamia.solarbotics.net/articles/led.html) that some smd LEDS come with a built in resistor so I would think you would be ok without a resistor.(If it indeed has a resistor built in)
-
yup WHO NEEDs RESISTORS? thats sucha a frigging lie
leds blow if you put them on 9v, and who cares if the psp battery is 3.6v? the backlight is 30...
but please do go ahaead and hook an led upto an 11v battery. im sure it will do notthing...
im saying that you dont need resitors im saying that i find intresting about the specs and all
-
so do we or not some one pls be dumb enough to try it with out to see what happens
-
well the thing is its just gud practice to put in resistors, i would defently recoment putting them on red/green/white 0603's wired to psp but you can usally get away without them on blue 1's. Btw i think 0603's dont have built in resistors sorry :dntknw:

so do we or not some one pls be dumb enough to try it with out to see what happens
i think i might try it with my blu ones
just incase i might use my broken psp
-
YOU NEED RESISTORS.PERIOD
and please trry it on a range of colours red, blue green purple white, coz im sure your very very smart brother knows leds have different forward voltages that they run on
not nesirally its been roven that you dont need resitors for blu leds so im gonna buy UVL leds and red and test that all the same voltage level of 12 v

i was going to think of something smart to say, but my IQ dropped dramatically, after reading 500 posts with people asking general "need to know" questions.. then stumbling apon this thread...
if your using 12v led's then they are not 0603 SMD's
UNLESS they have a resistor...
www.ledcalc.com
you must have the wrong specs for your LED's...
-
I have no idea why but I didn't need resistors for the hold switch activated LED's. Seriously.
-
what some of you seem to be missing that has been stated is that a led will work with out a resistor.
i can hook a led up to a power supply and run it on 20volts and it will light. the point is its NOT good for it.
