Title: xbox slim
Post by: ryan0 on March 01, 2008, 06:56:46 PM
i'm thinking of making a slim xbox and came across this:
http://cgi.ebay.ie/NEW-SD-Flash-Memory-to-IDE-HD-Digital-Adapter-Converter_W0QQitemZ160211331801QQihZ006QQcategoryZ41994QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.ie/NEW-SD-Flash-Memory-to-IDE-HD-Digital-Adapter-Converter_W0QQitemZ160211331801QQihZ006QQcategoryZ41994QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
i might buy one of these and use my 16gb sd with it to boot xbmc,i dont care bout only having 16gb my xbox is networked to my pc with a 1tb hdd so i play all my games apps and movies off that,i dont think i'll keep the disk drive cos i never use it anyways i just play games over the network,
this guy made an awesome one but it doesnt have a disk drive,oh well its still really really awesome!i dont plan on going as thin as this guys one because i dont wanna change the heatsinks and/or psu cos i'm really lazy:

Go for it! Those are all over XBOXscene.com.

I dont think I am ever going to get a new HDD now. I do the same as you I just network and leave it all on my PC.

One thing is that you cant play games from the PC, they still have to be on the HDD at least. I dont even know when the last time I played a game was. I just use it for music and movies ( XBMC ).

Ha Ha thats actually my xbox. Since then I have made another one and dropped the disk drive so it loaded from the side. Needless to say I had to replace the heatsink.

cool its an honour to have you on the site,i was wondering what drive to use and will i have to reflash the firmware on it?u did a great job of this slimbox but my one is probably not going to have a dvd drive,im going to put a 160gb laptop hdd into it,without the drive i can make it super slim!!!!i dont play games anyways and if i wanted to i could just play em off the hdd

from what i can tell you can make the drive slimer if you take it apart and not use the shell of it

Why would it not be functional? You can make it still function by making your own piece for the upper spindle thing. :victory:
