Title: I came up with a solution to some problems...
Post by: RoBot1ks on March 05, 2008, 04:14:45 PM
You know how if you are going to do the internal chotto...and you have to connect the wires directly to the inside of the psp? Well I was thinking of some kind of solution to be able to switch over from the USB port to the CHOTTO...and maybe the GPS... :w00t:
And I came up with 3 concepts, of which the third is my favorite. If I could just figure out how to custom make the switch compartment and the other stuff..

I am planning on making a prototype once I get a chotto. Then I will hook up the wires for the usb and chotto to the switch and see if it works...you'll see
Kind of came up with a name for it, but any suggestions will be appreciated!!

If you do it right..yes

if you just solder everything to the usb port without a switch, no. Your PC will start detecting the chotto shot. Hmm... I wonder if there are drivers for it.

there are, if you connect your psp to ur pc and click the camera icon on your psp it tries to install drivers, but because of the psp error message it never has time to finish

Simply connecting the usb cable is enough to make your PC go ape:censored:.

I am glad I came up with this mod the way I did: Only one set of connectors are running through the mobo at one time, so when you plug your psp up to the computer(slide the switch to usb) it can't detect the gps, or anything since they're not a complete circuit

so let me get this right you took a go cam and a sat nav and wired them internally

which adds weight and makes it less portable, i could understand if you wired the camera internally but why wire the sat nav it is heffing big and heavy you just made your psp a ps, they were made interchangeable for a reason

No, I haven't done it yet...But the gps was just a concept. You can use anything you want with the switch (as long as you wire it correctly)

You can't make the GPS internal, simply because you won't recieve anything, the reciever must be outside to recieve any signal at all.

Yeah that's where I thought I would have some problems. I don't think I want to use the gps..maybe I will use something else

Good question..you would just have to take a look at which pins go where...
If you still want to do the usb charging mod, I think this switch would help you out...you just wouldn't be able to use the chotto while in usb mode(simply because the switch I came up with is only running one thing at a time.
If you were charging it, you would have to slide the switch to usb.

From a digital camera? If I had a spare one laying around, I would take a look at it. But I know what you are talking about. Maybe a cheap one with a slide switch for 1.Viewing the pictures...2.Taking pictures....3.Video....or something like that

i have a rotating switch from a busted kodak, the contact points only have 3 connectors, so i dunno if it would be any good for usb switching :/

Maybe you could add some more pins on it....

That's a potentiometer, not a switch.

Also slap a god damn switch to the DATA +, how could you make such a big drama around something that simple.
